EnviroServ year-end staff lunch donated to the needy

When the fourth wave of the pandemic caused EnviroServ to cancel our staff party, we wanted to ensure that the food, which had already been pre-paid, was used for a good cause.

Last Friday, 238 people from the Wolmer community in Pretoria North enjoyed a spitbraai courtesy of EnviroServ and the Hanna Charity and Empowerment Foundation, who we partnered with to distribute the meal.

The NPO’s?mission is to take hands with poor and marginalised people in South Africa and uplift them.

“This delicious meal was served to families in the community, from children to pensioners, who are the poorest of the poor - many of them have no income at all,” said June du Toit, Hanna Communications Manager. “This donation was truly special as those who enjoyed it usually eat mielie pap or baked beans; now they got to sit down to a meal with two meats, salads and dessert. It was awesome and the recipients were overwhelmed with gratitude to EnviroServ and its staff.”

Du Toit said Hanna helped “those who really need help” and worked with people to improve their lives, teaching skills like knitting, sewing and crochet to help people become entrepreneurs.
