Environmentally Sound Technology in Dubai
Through SEAO2 Guy Lane attended the United Nations Environment Program in Dubai in February 2006.
Here was an Environmentally Sound Technology (EST) Showcase, a vast hall full of cleantech pavillions including SEAO2's 3x6-meter booth where six Australian and international cleantech firms were represented.
These included firms advancing solar thermal technology with storage, paving material made from biomass, energy efficient engineering services, low energy filtration technology, and of course SEAO2's advisory services.
On arrival in Dubai, SEAO2 hired a seating arrangement and bought a coffee pot with the intention of bringing people into the booth to sit down and have a conversation about their work.
The then secretary general of the United Nations Kofi Anan was in attendance briefing the Emiratis about their enormous ecological footprint which was at the time the highest in the world.
