Environmental Challenges and Market Demand

Environmental Challenges and Market Demand

Every year, our environment suffers from the accumulation of tons of plastic waste, posing a severe threat to ecosystems. In Kenya, despite the government's efforts to ban plastic bags in 2017, plastic waste continues to plague both land and marine environments. This concerning issue is coupled with a pressing housing deficit of over 2 million units, intensifying the need for transformative solutions.

Sustainable Impact and Job Creation

Gjenge Makers has transformed over 150,000 tonnes of plastic waste into a vibrant array of pavers, providing an innovative alternative to conventional building materials.

Notably, these pavers have been rigorously tested to hold twice the weight threshold of concrete blocks, demonstrating their exceptional durability. The company has also made a substantial social impact, creating 112 job opportunities for garbage collectors, women, and youth groups.

Environmental Challenges and Market Demand

The escalating global plastic waste crisis and the persistent housing deficit have catalyzed Gjenge Makers' mission to expand beyond the borders of Nairobi. With an unwavering commitment to sustainability, the company is poised to address these pressing challenges on a broader scale.

Originally rooted in the heart of Nairobi, the company has proven the viability of its solution, setting the stage for a seamless expansion into other counties and potentially beyond national borders.
