Entrepreneurship Reflections: A Saturday Stream of Consciousness
As a business owner of an HR Mastermind enterprise for the last 7+ years, I regularly encounter inspiring individuals from the human capital field who have decided to embark on their own entrepreneurial journey. My own experiences as a solopreneur, partner, and an angel and VC-backed business owner have taught me invaluable lessons - ones I wish to share as my way of giving back.
If you're contemplating starting your own business, a crucial first step is gaining clarity on why you wish to take this path. What fuels this aspiration? Is it the pursuit of flexibility, the thirst for innovation, or the lure of financial independence?
Consider the current season of your life. Are you prepared to invest the necessary hours, energy, and resources that this venture demands? Is your goal to raise VC investments driven by the need for outside capital to scale an already successful model, or is it merely the echo of your ego?
The entrepreneurial road isn't one-size-fits-all. It can mean the solitary path of the solopreneur, laden with great rewards, or the shared journey with a business partner, which can sometimes carry the natural conflicts of a marriage. You might choose to bootstrap or seek the support of venture capitalists and angel investors. Each choice comes with its unique set of implications and challenges.
Align your future vision with your present circumstances. Be clear about your motivations, and be realistic about your current capabilities. Foster a holistic view of work and life, where one fuels the other rather than depleting it.

As Steve Jobs once said, 'Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.'
So, is your potential business venture a service or product of what you love? You might not even know yet, and only taking action quickly and early will give you the answer.
Remember, you don't have to embark on this journey alone. Engage with other entrepreneurs. Learn from their experiences with different types of businesses, understand their challenges and triumphs. There's a wealth of knowledge within the entrepreneurial community ready to be tapped." #Entrepreneurship #Business #SelfReflection #Community #givebacksaturday
