At 35, Arrernte man from Alice Springs, Raymond Pratt is a serious player in the entrepreneur space.

Starting of as an electrician, like his Dad, has during the last 10 years, started and successfully run a national electrical contracting business (DICE) in which he is now a Director as he also takes on the role of CEO at Allgrid Energy.

DICE is Dedicated to Indigenous Community and Employment, (DICE)

Allgrid Energy is an Indigenous owned renewable technology company. So where does his passion for energy come from? After many years working as an electrician in remote communities in Australia, he saw first hand the impact of unsustainable energy supply. This promoted Raymond to consider ways to use renewable energy to supply the much needed power and energy to some of the most remote places across our nation.

Awesome job, that Raymond and his company is doing.. I have worked in remote communities and the amount of diesel used is astounding but the technology wasnt available then. An off grid system now would be cheaper then trucking in 40,000litres a month, plus maintenance of a very large diesel generator. I am also off grid at my house and despite the hype it can be very difficult and challenging. There are a lot of people in this space, who dont know what they are doing and this makes it hard for customers particularly as it is very techincial. Still the biggest issue is batteries (and cost) and as soon as someone comes up with a cheap, reliable and be able to drain the batteries down to nearly nothing the better. If this was possible, you could be off grid and rely soley on the sun. Batteries are still the biggest issue and everyone says this will be resolved in the next five years. I hope so.
