This month, and every month we celebrate their remarkable stories and uplift their voices.?

Wanderground Lesbian Archive and Library collects and provides access to a broad selection of New England-based publications, artifacts, and personal memorabilia.

Mev Miller first founded Wanderground as a way to provide community gathering spaces, preserve the vibrant past of local lesbians, encourage present-day learning and discovery, and cultivate a future of thriving lesbian communities.

“Our lesbian elders are passing away and their stories will be lost. As lesbian lives become less visible, the time is now to preserve our ‘herstorical’ legacies. Given the breadth and strength of the materials I’ve collected over the past 40 plus years, and my own achievements, I have much to offer. This collection (with newly donated offerings) will keep these stories present while lesbian lives continue to evolve and change,” Miller said.

Miller took part in our Incubator Program, using her experience as a non-profit leader to develop a robust business model and create the foundation for a successful 2-year strategic roadmap.

Today, Miller strives to bolster LGBTQ+ visibility and ground the community in the knowledge of the past as she works to integrate the present and build an equitable future.

“Many social justice achievements, especially those serving LGBTQA+ communities, exist and thrive due to the energies, commitment, hard work, and sacrifice of lesbian and feminist women. Over time, we have experienced that Lesbians and Lesbian cultures have become overshadowed, even lost. And as we experience the loss of our lesbian cultures, it can be hard to assert that we still need and deserve those spaces,” she said.
