As marketers, maybe making people smile can be just as powerful as making a sale…

We’re often chasing conversions, calling people to action, or trying to sell, but we forget that entertaining content is still valuable content.

Gone are the days when every message had to be “serious business” or purely educational. Brands that lean into entertainment are standing out — and winning attention.

While informative posts still matter, entertainment taps into what people crave: escapism, connection, and joy. And it can build long-term loyalty.

So remember: entertaining content doesn’t lose value — it increases it by building stronger connections with your audience. So loosen up and have some fun! ??

How do you sell your team on an idea you just know will be ICONIC?

In a new documentary celebrating SNL's 50th anniversary, Justin Timberlake explained how he pitched the viral 2008 Single Ladies sketch to a skeptical Beyoncé.

She initially didn't see the vision — it wasn't until Justin got in full-leotard that Beyoncé understood how hilarious it would be.

Oprah’s birthday was yesterday, so let’s revisit her unforgettable “You get a car!” moment

On September 13, 2004, The Oprah Winfrey Show pulled off one of the most talked-about giveaways and marketing stunts of all time.

Pontiac wanted to create buzz for its brand-new 2005 G6 sedan. Instead of running traditional ads, they partnered with Oprah to give away $7 million worth of cars to 276 audience members, creating a moment that still lives on in pop culture.

Haven’t seen the clip in 20+ years? You’re in for a treat.

Cue the screaming, crying, and one of the most GIF-worthy reactions ever.

The entertainment issue was my philosophy when I worked at the student paper in college. My interview questions were never the greatest for serious stories. But, I hardly ever wrote on the serious side. At the paper I was an Arts Editor and then a humor columnist. And, I knew people were picking up the paper to read my Sin City review or a goofy column about walking up a hill (told in the style of Lord of the Rings) My hope was always that people would stick around and read the more notable stuff on the front page.
