The main literature re better education for our students is stuck in how to teach better. The world has passed on teaching lessons to classes of students in the middle and senior school years. The old authoritarian policy of banning what we can't understand, let alone explaining the pros and cons, has led the move to ban iPhone and Chat for schools. The iPhone is now a body part. AI can explain topics in many more ways than a teacher. But there is movement. Coaching is becoming a new 'thing', and that gets us closer to camp counselors who manage the campers' learning actually doing as the process of learning: outdoor ed, canoeing, arts and crafts, tripping in white water, and meeting and song over camp fires. That is a learning community. The move towards management of learning through the design methodology in prepared learning environments is the goal. We may be a step closer, but the hurdles are very high. We are still stuck on teaching better.

I certainly agree that teachers should aim for authenticity rather than “entertainment” also that they take on so many roles but only get paid for doing one!!
