Are Enterprises prepared for The IoT Wave?Role of Big Data Analytics

The IoT Wave:  Role of Big Data  Analytics in Energy & Sustainability.

According to a report by Goldman Sachs, there will be 28 billion devices connected to internet by 2020. The HVAC systems, the AHUs (Air handling Units), the compressors, the freezers, multiple sensors, you name it, every device will be connected to the internet. In short we are being transformed into the Digital Age ruled by  Big data. These devices are just the mode of collecting data, the real value lies in the ability to analyze this vast amount of data and draw useful insights from the data that will change the ways businesses run and individuals live their lives. The ability of analytics software based on powerful in-memory database platforms to analyze  large volumes of structured and unstructured data would help companies leverage the combination of IoT and big data analytics to improve their business, increase revenues and  serve their customers better.

Tapping into organizational  data to Reduce Energy Consumption

Today, most of the companies around the  world have facilities spread across multiple cities in different continents. Organizations have access to data from energy meters, sensors, weather data, demographics in near real time. Access to intelligent data analytics software can enable these organizations to track, monitor, visualize and understand energy usage patterns at their different facilities on an equipment level in real-time. Unique and accurate insights from multiple data sources can help organizations optimize their energy consumption, save both money and resources and reduce their carbon footprint.

The IoT is not restricted to just smart energy meters and sensors, rather, it is making its way deep into the solar and wind energy resources and deep into the earth with oil, water and gas sensors. Big Data Analytics software solutions combine historical, current, geospatial, weather data and enable organizations to look into efficiencies and deficiencies of facilities and equipments.

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration if we say, intelligent machines along with big data analytics will make lives easier and efficient while reducing our carbon footprint. Organizations have already started reaping the benefits of smart meters and sensors and companies that will capitalize on the intelligent combination of data analytics and IoT will definitely emerge as the leaders in innovation and customer success.
