Enter Amazon - an Official Metallica Merch Table on Amazon
Is nothing sacred anymore? After taking on cords and cables, clothing, pharmacy and rice cookers Amazon is now setting up a forever merch table.
I was recently researching the upcoming Metallica Blacklist and of course dropped over to the r/metallica subreddit to hunt for coupon codes. And while coming up empty for coupon codes (thanks, Lars...) I DID come across this clever little Reddit Ad:
An Official Metallica merch ad as I'm browsing r/metallica - yes, way to go advertiser! But what's that? Where does it send me? Amazon! Huh? And here's what it looks like when you get there:
Amazon exclusive merch and a plug for listening on Amazon Music - makes sense. Although, I could argue with the placement of St. Anger on the hype page vs. The Black Album (or really anything else).
So then I wanted to check this out. Who else has partnered with Amazon? Found this from Prime Day Hangovers:
Boom. Bille Eilish. Grateful Dead. Whitney Houston. The Beatles. They've got it all here (link for easy access). And it makes sense right? Why not push some merch through the world's biggest online marketplace. They make a good appeal to artists with this nifty diagram:
So where do we go from here? Festival season is fast approaching and you need to look cool, I get it! Prime shipping makes it easy. And's it's all about easy easy easy. I'm chalking up another win for Amazon and another amazing niche that they are in the process of conquering. Who is your favorite band and would you buy their merch from Amazon? Comment and let me know!
