Ensuring Uninterrupted Accreditation Journey!
AeonMed’s Healthcare Quality as a Service (Qa-aS?)
Healthcare Quality as a Service, abbreviated as Qa-aS?, is a comprehensive and outsourced approach to operating ‘Quality management System’ in the hospitals. Unlike other “as a Service” models, Qa-aS? delivers services via a hybrid mode using online & offline processes based on a subscription.?
Instead of relying solely on in-house Quality teams, hospitals can partner with us for availing Qa-aS? to access a full range of healthcare quality and patient safety expertise from established professionals, tools, and resources for optimally operating the QMS in hospitals and other healthcare organizations.
We design quality and safety related policies, plans and programs, procedures, documentation and audits, and a surveillance and monitoring system to ensure that hospitals and healthcare organizations have a fully functional, quality management system that maintains accreditation on a continues basis thus achieving the state of ‘ever ready for an accreditation assessment’ by availing Qa-aS?.
Maintaining quality management system and current accreditation is vital to hospitals and healthcare organizations. While it takes effort to achieve accreditation from any accreditation body [Quality & Accreditation Institute (www.qai.org.in), JCI (https://www.jointcommissioninternational.org) , AACI (https://aacihealthcare.com) or NABH (www.nabh.co)], maintaining accreditation requires equal amount of continued effort.
It has been my experience that once the initial euphoria of achieving accreditation is over, maintaining quality systems is a challenge for most hospitals and resultantly, the hospitals see a progressive decline in quality systems. I have covered this earlier as well (https://tinyurl.com/Festival-of-Quality).
Why is Qa-aS? necessary?
For most hospitals and healthcare organizations implementing quality system and acquiring accreditation happens due to an felt requirement by the hospital management, driven by sustained policy push from the government, health insurance providers and growing desire of patients, families and clientele to avail services from an accredited healthcare services provider.
This need, very often, is felt by the management of the hospital due to its benefits – better bottom lines, better quality of patient care and improved brand image etc., yet the healthcare providers (the doctors nurses and others) lack requisite skills and expertise in healthcare quality. While, maintaining quality management system demands hiring additional staff, getting relevant expertise is not easy and it comes at a premium.
We developed Qa-aS? to address these gaps. Some of the advantages and benefits of Qa-aS? are -
1.????? Access to Experts – Qa-aS? has built-in access to senior professionals and experts in the field of healthcare quality and patient safety. Our consultants are assessors from leading accreditation bodies (QAI, JCI, AACI, NABL and NABH) having decades of cumulative experience in this field.
2.????? Whole System Approach - Qa-aS? enables whole system approach since all components are aligned with accreditation requirements, operational functioning of the hospitals and healthcare organizations and documented.
3.????? Mitigation of Bias - Qa-aS? enables online data collection, easy data verification and validation. This eliminates bias and makes data extremely reliable. Resultantly, the reports based on such data are real reflection of ground situation helping top management take appropriate decisions in time. In fact whole auditable data trail gets created for each hospital under Qa-aS?.
4.????? Cost-effective - Qa-aS? turns out to be more cost effective than hiring your own staff on two counts. One, direct staff costs are reduced and two, prevention and reduction in errors leads to cost-containment and savings.
Qa-aS? is particularly beneficial to small hospitals (under 50 beds) who find Healthcare Quality Staff expensive and the hospitals in non-metro locations where staff is not easy to find.
Accredited nursing homes and hospitals operated by non-corporate entities will find Qa-aS? particularly beneficial.
5.????? Scalable - Qa-aS? is scalable and can be applied to multiple hospitals at the same time – rapidly. The back-end database design and processes are pre-build and ready, waiting to be deployed.
6.????? Dedicated support – Under Qa-aS? each healthcare organization has a dedicated ‘Consultant’ providing support on real time basis.

7.????? Continued support - Qa-aS? model services are provided by our organization. This insulates the hospitals from staff attrition (which among the healthcare quality personnel is quite high). No-break support is available during the period of engagement.
This support includes any accreditation assessment that may fall within the period of engagement whether surveillance or re-accreditation.
How Qa-aS? works?
We developed a process for smooth on-boarding of hospitals on Qa-aS? system. This involves assessing the current state of quality management system in the hospital / healthcare organization. Post on-boarding, a dedicated back-end database / system for the hospital is developed so that every activity of quality system in the hospital is aligned.
Qa-aS? Services
A typical Qa-aS? services include just about every important Quality Function required for maintaining accreditation. Some of these are -
