ENSURE YOUR SUPPLY CHAIN'S RESILIENCE IN ANY MARKET

How Norfolk Southern Proactively Meets Demand

As a busy shipper, you know the importance of having resilient, reliable supply chain partners. At Norfolk Southern, we’re here to make that process seamless for you, with teams going above and beyond to meet your emerging needs. ?

After making strategic operational adjustments at interchanges and yards across our network, cycle times improved, helping us quickly spot opportunities to meet immediate demand.

For example, when drought conditions in West Texas threatened the grain supply chain, risking delays nationwide, we responded quickly to mitigate the impact across the U.S.

Through proactive, cross-team collaboration, we were able to bridge the supply gap and keep America’s grain moving. ??

What we did:???

  • Mobilized idle grain trains to supply drought-impacted areas.
  • Collaborated with Western rail carriers to dispatch over 50 unit trains. ?
  • Moved grain to the Gulf of Mexico for export, supporting both U.S. and global needs. ?

Why it matters to you:?By thinking like an extension of your team, we’re identifying potential disruptions and quickly unlocking solutions to keep your business moving – even in changing market conditions.

Southern Railroad used to have a publication called Ties. I think it was mostly for employees but it was a great publication with lots of pictures, especially for a 10 year old receiving them from a uncle who worked for Southern. Glad to see a publication come back. And glad to see the calendars back!
