Enrolled Agent Exam Fees & Updates for 2025: What You Need to Know

The role of an Enrolled Agent (EA) has never been more important in today’s tax landscape. With the ability to represent taxpayers before the IRS, EAs enjoy a rewarding career with excellent growth opportunities. However, before earning this prestigious credential, candidates must pass the Special Enrollment Examination (SEE) and cover several costs along the way.

In this guide, we’ll break down the latest Enrolled Agent exam fees, updates, and essential details to help you navigate your journey efficiently.

Understanding the Enrolled Agent Exam

The EA exam consists of three sections, each testing your knowledge of tax laws and IRS procedures:

Part 1: Individuals – Covers filing requirements, income, deductions, credits, and tax planning strategies for individuals.

Part 2: Businesses – Focuses on corporate tax structures, partnerships, deductions, estate & gift taxation, and small business considerations.

Part 3: Representation, Practices, and Procedures – Tests your understanding of IRS regulations, ethics, and client representation rules.

Candidates must pass all three parts within three years to earn their EA designation.
