The "Not Enough" Trap
There is always value in trying new things. I took a couple of Intro to Yoga classes with my friends Mike and Angelique recently.
For me, yoga has always been one of those things?that I know I should do more of but never do. I think because the first time I did yoga was with the P90x series and it was a grueling 90 minutes!?
But I took those classes and I have done yoga every day since. Not a full class. Not an hour or even 30 minutes.
Every day I do at least 1 sun salutation.
Most days it is more but some days that is all I do. And it has been helping me, mentally and physically.
The takeaways?I wanted to share with you are that you should always try new?things and avoid getting caught in the trap of "not enough".
How do you know you don't like yoga (or weightlifting, surfing, pickleball, etc) until you've tried? And if you are going to try something new, I recommend getting an instructor you trust to walk you through it and learn the?right way.
Too many?of us get caught in the "Not enough" trap. We think that if we can't do a full workout, why even start? Or we can't finish the whole project, so I will just do nothing.

Some of the best advice I can give you is to see if you can talk yourself into a short workout. 5 minutes of walking, 10 squats, 1 sun salutation. Whatever it is that seems really easy to accomplish, that is your goal.
Or talk yourself into chipping away at the project. My business coach Pat Rigsby has taught me the value of the 10 minute sprint. What can you do in 10 minutes to move your business forward? It turns out you can do a lot.
Even if that is all you did that day, it counts! A little bit of something always beats a whole lot of nothing.
But what you will find is that once you start you will do that little bit and even more afterward. Getting started is the hardest part. Once you can get through that part the sky is the limit.
What is something new you will try? What are some small ways you can move your business or health forward when you feel stuck and pressed for time?

2 年Well said Joe. Love it! Yoga is one of those things I need to do more of. I’ve been doing it like once or twice a month.
