Enough with the “SNC-Lavalin Scandal”

To my many SNC-Lavalin friends and colleagues, and to my fellow Canadians across this country, I say enough is enough. As a long-term SNC-Lavalin employee, I’m sick and tired of the political firestorm around the decisions made by the Attorney General and interactions with her by various politicians being referred to as the “SNC-Lavalin Scandal”. The facts are simple. A handful of individuals in our company did some stupid things almost 10 years ago that resulted in a fraud and corruption charge against the company. They were all fired and we turned the page on this internally by creating a world-class integrity program that recently earned the prestigious Compliance Leader Verification from the Ethisphere Institute for its excellence.

Our company lobbied aggressively – but both legally and transparently – not to drop the criminal charge or look for some kind of special treatment, but to introduce a tool (a Deferred Prosecution Agreement or DPA) that could be used to quickly settle this issue financially, which seems a reasonable resolution for a company that now consists of great people who had nothing to do with the issues of the past.

The DPA was not granted, so we move on and the court case will drag on and this dark cloud remains over our heads. But we are resilient and we will persevere, despite the ongoing political scandal that references our name. And we will continue to work hard as employees of this great company to develop projects that make all of your lives better. We are proud employees of SNC-Lavalin and we will continue to build what matters!

It is a crying shame. I thoroughly enjoyed my professional years there. I hope they throw the book at Sami.?

A few people that made some serious errors in judgment and obvious mistakes is not reflective of the entire company. It’s time to move on.

Thank you Dale! Your ability to succinctly state THE WHOLE STORY that has to do with OUR company is greatly appreciated! Here's hoping it finds its way into the truthful discussion of facts...??

This is half the story, the other half is the pressure put on political system in an attempt to bypass Canadian laws. Regardless of how many, they were corporate decisions and hence the responsibility is with the entire corporation In addition, the scandal is the PM of Canada, a person that should represent all Canadians, made decisions and statements that were for his riding and hence his benefit. None of this has a place in politics, and by extension, as a Canadian, nor should the company benefit from govt contracts. Own the fact that the company leadership is rotten, and you should move on or taint yourself in it's reputation.
