There is Enough Responsibility for Everyone

The Simple Fact: Last month the EU raised the target for CO2 emissions reduction by 2030 to 55 percent, at least. Germany is even striving to increase it to 65%.

he real commitment: As said by ,@Ursula von der Leyen President of the European Commission, this is “Our binding pledge to our children and grandchildren”. As a recent father, this pledge has a huge emotional impact. Saving the planet is a multi-generational endeavour but it is up to us, to hand a healing planet, in better condition than we found it, to the next generation. We cannot fail.

The complex implications: This will become legally binding in national law and it will be the responsibility of all of us in the EU: You, me, all industries, all companies, all communities. It will be all of us to turn this aspiration into reality. 

The ultimate responsibility: The responsibility for the energy transition belongs to us. At @Viessmann, almost 13,000 family members are taking this responsibility seriously. Responsibility to provide the right climate solutions based on the right energy sources, that will enable everyone to undertake their own individual energy transitions, from today’s millions of different starting points (a hugely heterogeneous housing stock is one example) to a single destination: Living spaces for generations to come. 

Our ambition is an energy transition to CO2 free heating, cooling, ventilation, humidity control, air and water filtration and purification in the home but also in office buildings, public areas, kindergartens, schools, hospitals, recreation centers and the shop room floor: Green climate solutions for every aspect of life.

Our family members and our partners have shown that we can go CO2 free today with the right climate solutions needed to save our world. Politicians can introduce stable framework conditions, and make investments in the gas and electricity grids needed, so that everybody can fully transition to green energy. But ultimately, it is the customer who will co-create living spaces for generations to come. Investing in green technologies, available today, is the single biggest and most important decision that can be made regarding reversing climate warming, saving the planet and fulfilling our pledge to our children and grandchildren. Emission reduction is in all our hands.

This is a decision with a magnitude more important than which car to drive or where to take the next holiday. Adopting CO2 neutral or free heating or cooling makes a statement about who you really are, your commitment to the next generation and ultimately how this generation will be remembered.

How we manage our household environments must literally and figuratively come out of the cellar. There is enough responsibility for everyone. Join me in fulfilling yours and our pledge to our children and grandchildren: Co-creating living spaces for generations to come.
