Enough is Enough! Rally for Florida Public Schools

Enough is Enough! Rally for Florida Public Schools

Tired of your students always taking tests? Perplexed as to why the curriculum absolutely revolves around them? Fed up with the red tape and bureaucracy out of Tallahassee interfering with your students' learning? Sick of your kids (and yourselves) constantly being stressed out by having to practice for state tests? GREAT!

Then Get On the Bus! On January 14, join teachers, paras, and UOPD's from across the state of Florida as the Florida Education Association and its local unions rally together to participate in a public demonstration to protest the over-testing of Florida's students, ridiculous working conditions, and an unsound curriculum.

To join us, sign up by December 3 with your school's Union rep, let me know here, or call the Duval Teachers United office at 904.396.4063. You will need to take a personal day off from work to participate, which has already been approved through DCPS and DTU, local #3326.

Not a member of the Union? You can still join us. If you're a teacher, just let me know. Not a teacher? You can still meet up with us in Tallahassee! We would love the support of our parents, businesses, and other community members. Let's show these silly politicians that we are serious about supporting our kids, their teachers, and public education. SOLIDARITY!

Shannon, I am in total agreement with? you and as a teacher for 10 yrs and a high school principal for 30, and now a school board member, our quality of education in the U.S. is in sad sad shape; everything from too low of teacher salaries to all the mandates by states and the feds.?? Teachers have way too much on their plates now and society expects them to be teacher, nurse, parent, babysitter, hygiene consultant and...the list goes on and on.? And then the governments judge teachers and schools by test scores.? Perhaps we should require our politicians to be a joint teacher for a week in a kindergarten class, and after they do that, they must pass the respective state required assessments and also score at a certain level before they can take their respective oaths of office.? One of my favorite quotes from Einstein in context, is:? "I learned more from my imagination than I ever did from absolute knowledge."? I will debate the worth of "teachers," with anyone, any place, at any time!!!!
