Enhancing Your Business Website With Artificial Intelligence

This week I asked ChatGPT how I could enhance my website with AI. I've been writing about the need to proofread what you get back from the bot. I've also been writing about the need to verify the source of information the bot used to provide its output. That said, my prompt included a request for the source of the information provided.

I felt the outcome was mixed. The information was generally "good." My view of this may be based on the information drawn from sources a bit older than I would have liked. Maybe this is just because of the current size of the database ChatGPT has to draw on.

What follows is the content I received. I'm interested to know what you think.

  • Is the content relevant?
  • Did you get some ideas to enhance your website with #AI or
  • Did you think the advice was outdated?

With some minor editing, here's what #ChatGPT told me:

In today's fast-paced and ever-evolving digital landscape, businesses looking to differentiate themselves must continuously seek ways to improve their websites. One increasingly popular method to do this is by leveraging the incredible power of Artificial Intelligence (AI). AI can help businesses not only enhance their website content but also elevate their #website performance, code optimization, and loading speed. Let's explore crucial ways that AI can positively impact your #business website.

First and foremost, AI-driven applications are making waves in the realm of content generation and personalization. Such applications can analyze user behavior and tailor the website experience, thus making it more engaging and relevant to users. Platforms like Persado and Phrasee utilize natural language processing (NLP) to create compelling, intelligent advertising and marketing copy, resulting in a more immersive experience (Source: Bernstein, J. (2017). Forbes. [bit.ly/3CFu5F5]). NOTE: I was unable to find the Source referenced, but it does appear Persado and Phrasee do exist and are Generative AI platforms.

Additionally, AI-powered chatbots can significantly improve the interactivity on your website. These #chatbots employ natural language understanding (NLU) to engage with users – helping to answer queries, make recommendations, and even offer personalized deals for an enhanced user experience (Source: De, S. (2019). Entrepreneur. [bit.ly/3zLJ1hj]). NOTE: Again, this link does not go to anything in #Entrepreneur.

When it comes to website coding, AI solutions can also help streamline code optimization. Tools like DeepCode leverage AI-based frameworks to analyze code repositories, identify inefficiencies, and suggest improvements. Implementing these adjustments results in cleaner, faster, and more secure code, ultimately benefiting developers and end-users alike (Source: Novet, J. (2018). CNBC. [cnb.cx/3zGjkfL]). NOTE: DeepCode does exist and says its AI-based code review notifies you about critical bugs. The Source provided does take me to the CNBC website, but it does not take me to a specific article on this topic.

Last but not least, website loading speed plays a vital role in user retention and search engine rankings; AI can certainly help optimize this aspect. Solutions such as Google's AutoML can intelligently compress images to reduce file size without sacrificing quality, thus significantly improving page loading times (Source: Vincent, J. (2018). The Verge. [bit.ly/3CIxVYG]). NOTE: The Source provided is again a 404 error.

AI presents numerous opportunities for businesses to enhance their websites. By implementing AI-driven technologies and tools, businesses can not only craft more engaging content but also optimize code and improve website performance. As AI technologies continue to develop, businesses that adopt these innovative solutions will be best positioned to thrive in the competitive digital landscape.

I'm disappointed about the true lack of sources provided and the URLs that were just made up. Maybe that's the lawyer in me. The lawyer who, for many years, double and triple-checked the sources I relied on for everything I wrote. But, overall, I think the information provides the reader with some value.

What do you think?

When you commit to regular content creation, the hardest part for me is generating new content ideas, and that is where I find AI writing tools to be very useful. However they don't have my experience, knowledge, etc, and to your question, Chat GPT can be a bit dated, I've found that reference materials they refer to are no longer available. Has that been your experience Brad?

Brad Friedman this is interesting. I have found that when you look for the sources cited often they don’t exist or are really written by someone else. This is concerning in my eyes. What do you think?

I've found that some of the AI generated content can be useful to me as a way to generate new ideas, but from a content creation POV, I don't find it as useful. But I might be a better writer than average and if you are an average writer, it is a better tool.
