Enhancing Teachers’ Capacity and Quality Education in Cross River State

The Springs of Life Association for Women and Girl Child Development Initiative, in partnership with the TY Danjuma Foundation, recently completed a Teachers’ Continuing Professional Development Training (TCPDT) in the Calabar, Ikom, and Ogoja Educational Zones of Cross River State. The training is aimed at developing teachers’ capacity to facilitate learning and implement global best practices that will assist learners in maximizing their potential.
The participants, including 70 basic education teachers with at least ten more years of service in teaching, were trained on planning and execution, classroom management and discipline, neuroscience-based approaches to teaching evaluation and learners’ growth and development.
The main objectives of the training were to enhance teachers’ skills in facilitating learning, implementing neuroscience-based teaching approaches, effectively managing classrooms, selecting appropriate instructional aids and techniques for different learner groups, adopting suitable teaching strategies based on learners’ growth and development stage, and to assist teachers in designing and administering various types of teacher-made tests.
The TY Danjuma Foundation is investing in the training and retraining of teachers as part of its strategy to improve access to quality basic education in Nigeria. Since its inception in 2009, the Foundation has awarded $41.5 million in grants for the implementation of over 340 projects across 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory which has impacted more than 10 million people. A significant portion of these grants has been directed towards improving the quality of basic education in Nigeria.

1 年While I applaud all your interventions, I implore the Foundation to extend her support to her founder's home community, in partnership with the state, in terms of preserving lives. They say "Charity begins at home" right? I worked there whole of last year and lived 3 minutes walk from the General's home. Inter-communal crisis leaves no human and business safe; herders have wiped out numerous villages and their cattle have ravaged farmlands. Implementation there was a like swimming with sharks. I ran for my life twice. By the time the foundation finish making positive impact all over the country, there will be no community left to retire to.
