Enhancing School Safety

Initially, The Steward School engaged COSECURE to conduct a comprehensive security audit, evaluating the school’s existing safety measures and identifying areas for improvement. The school’s leadership team provided a highlight of some of this work:

The assessment report provided by Robert Evans and his team highlighted commendable practices and opportunities for enhancement. The key areas where we have made significant strides since COSECURE’s visit include:

Upgraded Campus-Wide Access Control System: We recognized the need to strengthen our access control mechanisms and give students the ability to access buildings independently. As a result, we invested in modern access control technology that gives us numerous options for access.

Expanded Video Surveillance: To bolster surveillance capabilities, we strategically placed additional cameras across the campus. These cameras provide real-time monitoring and recording, allowing us to address any security incidents proactively.

Improved Emergency Alert Platform: We recognized the critical importance of timely communication during emergencies and migrated to a new emergency alert platform. This system enables rapid and efficient dissemination of critical information to students, staff, and parents via multiple channels.

Campus-Wide Speakers and Horns: We installed campus-wide speakers and horns to broadcast emergency announcements. Whether it is a weather alert, lockdown situation, or evacuation instructions, everyone on campus receives clear and immediate guidance.

Following this initial assessment, Rob’s guidance during tabletop crisis exercises was invaluable. By simulating various scenarios, we identified strengths and weaknesses in our crisis planning. His expertise has been instrumental in shaping our safety protocols. The security audit was a catalyst for change. COSECURE helped us create a more secure campus for our students, staff, and families. We look forward to continuing to partner with COSECURE in the future.
