In 2018, Maintenance Service Engineers identified the need to upgrade the ventilation system at the No.1 Rail Building, located at the critical regional interchange station in Newcastle. ?

Business Challenge & Considerations.

To efficiently execute this ventilation project, several key considerations were addressed: removing old fans, installing new fans in the same positions, ensuring weatherproof and low-noise solutions, and completing the installation swiftly to avoid disrupting transportation operations. The new fans needed to effectively remove heat, dust, and odours.?

After a thorough evaluation of the No.1 Rail Building, Fanquip recommended installing five Curb Base Hooded Roof Fans, with upstands tailored to match the roof profile. These fans were chosen for their effectiveness in controlling train engine emissions and ambient air temperature during train parking and idling. Four fans replaced the old, noisy ones in their original positions, while the fifth fan was installed in the extended section of the shed.?
