Enhancing Education: SQAAF, NAAC and Luneblaze Advancing Quality and Innovation

In December, CBSE conducted surprise inspections at 29 schools across Delhi, Bengaluru, Patna, Bilaspur, Varanasi, and Ahmedabad, uncovering violations such as inflated student enrollments and dummy admissions. These checks, aimed at ensuring adherence to CBSE’s affiliation guidelines and infrastructure standards, were led by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) officers and school principals to maintain transparency. As a result, CBSE will issue showcause notices and explore legal action to enforce compliance, reinforcing its commitment to eliminating dummy admissions and promoting integrity in affiliated schools. At a national level, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) is revising its evaluation process. Currently based on seven criteria, covers areas like Curriculum, Teaching-Learning, and Research. Its upcoming Binary framework will expand to ten attributes, including Faculty Resources, Infrastructure, Student Outcomes, Research, and Sustainability Initiatives. This shift aims to provide a more comprehensive, future-focused assessment, promoting quality education, better governance, and long-term sustainability.

Kerala’s green mission is another noteworthy initiative aimed at becoming waste-free by March 2025, integrating waste management into higher education accreditation through NAAC rankings. Green initiatives are encouraged in colleges, with waste management already part of school curriculum through lessons and hands-on activities. Inspections across towns, institutions, and state borders reinforce efforts, banning plastic and promoting sustainability. This initiative fosters environmentally conscious citizens and a cleaner future. Source: [Mathrubhumi.com]

In tandem with these developments, both NAAC and University Grants Commission (UGC) have launched significant initiatives to elevate education and research in India. NAAC announced a Rs. 2 crore research initiative during its 30th Foundation Day, leveraging three decades of data to fund 5-6 projects over two years. These projects will explore emerging themes in higher education, offering evidence-based recommendations to improve the system and foster socially impactful graduates. Meanwhile, the UGC introduced the PhD Excellence Citation to honor outstanding doctoral research aligned with NEP 2020. Ten annual citations will be awarded across disciplines like Science, Engineering, Social Sciences, and Indian Languages, promoting originality, innovation, and excellence in research.
