Enhancing Confidence in Multiphase Flow Profiling with Innovative Downhole Sensors

Enhancing Confidence in Multiphase Flow Profiling with Innovative Downhole Sensors

I am excited to share our latest publication - IPTC-23924-EA, a joint paper by Baker Hughes and aramco, presented at International Petroleum Technology Conference (IPTC) held in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, 12 - 14 February 2024.

In this publication, the need for accurate flow profiling and zonal allocation is addressed with an innovative Production Logging solution which integrates distributed density, refractive-index, and fluorescence measurements using optical and piezo helm resonator sensors to independently detect oil and gas. Initial flow loop testing and field deployment have shown promising results, increasing confidence and redundancy in holdup measurements, and improving well performance optimization.

I would like to thank my co-authors Sandip Maity, Hussein Al-Shabebi, Noureddine Benlakhdar, Mohamed L. Zeghlache, Jana Jindan, and Ahmed Bukhamseen for their contributions to this work.
