Enhanced Zonal Analysis Procedure (EZAP) Practical Considerations – 1 Day
Introduction -
In 1997 a White House commission requested FAA to expand their Aging Aircraft Program to include systems.
FAA issued an Aging Systems Plan focussing, initially, on wiring systems. The Aging Transport Systems Rulemaking Advisory Committee (ATSRAC) was formed to provide FAA with advice and recommendations.
The primary role of the process we know as EZAP is designed to ensure appropriate attention is given to aircraft electrical wiring installations.
This is achieved by providing a means to identify “applicable” and “effective” tasks to minimize accumulation of combustible materials and address wiring installation discrepancies that may not otherwise be reliably detected by inspections contained in existing maintenance programs.
This 1 day course considers all elements which together deliver an effective understanding of the process for meeting regulatory compliance.
Detailed Content / Topics – The following Subjects will be addressed –
- Aging Transport System Rulemaking Advisory Committee (ATSRAC) Rulemaking Developments – Electrical Wiring Interconnect Systems
- Regulatory Background Drivers Enhanced Airworthiness Program for Airplane Systems/Fuel Tank Safety (EAPAS/FTS) rule, electrical wiring interconnection systems (EWIS)
- Regulatory Development of Enhanced Zonal Analysis Procedures (EZAP)
- The role of the Maintenance Review Board MRB – MSG 3 processes
- Features and Benefits of MSG-3
- MSG-3 Analysis Methodology including EWIS / HIRF
- Inspection of Electrical Wiring Interconnect Systems EWIS
- EZAP initial Assessment Process including Consideration of STC and Mods
- Development of EZAP-derived EWIS ICA in accordance with FAR 25 / CS 25
- Considering the Role of Stand Alone General Visual Inspections (GVI) and Human Factors Considerations
- EZAP exercise using supplied worksheets
Target Groups –
The course is beneficial for persons requiring a comprehensive understanding of MSG-3 EWIS / HIRF EZAP process. In particular for those persons responsible for Zonal Inspection and General Assessment of Wiring system integrity. The course will also be beneficial to persons working within a CAMO environment for example Reliability engineering, Maintenance Program Management and Quality Audit Staff.
Pre-requisites –
A background in an aviation maintenance will be a distinct advantage however the course is stand alone.
Learning Objectives –
This course aims to provide the participants with an in depth understanding of the EZAP Process and how to perform EZAP analysis
Duration –
1 day – Start at 09.00 and finish at 17.00, with appropriate refreshment breaks.
