Is English Leading to Language Imperialism or Unity?

The origin of language in the human species has been the topic of scholarly discussions for several centuries and mystical too.  Because of the lack of evidence, no one knows precisely when it was born or what the age of human language is. Perhaps that’s the reason many scholars have regarded this topic as unsuitable for serious study. (source Wikipedia)

Now here is my opinion or thought!

Thousands of years ago, when human had evolved from apes, they might have used only one language (could be sign language with a little use of specific sounds as signals). During that period, human lived in flock and communicated in the similar way.

With time, they grew in population and also evolved in term of intelligence. This may have resulted in the growth of their need, craving to explore or to have power. So they started to travel or expand. Thus, one flock of human became two, three and more and scattered around the world.

With time, they evolved more in term of intelligence as they saw new things where they went.  Each flock might have introduced new signals, sounds or even words for all new things they saw, ate or felt. Therefore each flock came up with an individual language that evolved with time.

Current scenario!

With globalization and boom in corporate industry, English has become a global language. Many countries that were rigid on not using any foreign language within the country (Japan, Italy etc) too have accepted English in professional domain. Because without a common language, trading across different countries or continents becomes difficult.

So does that mean we as specie are uniting again in term of language?

However, many political parties in many countries or many people still do not support the universal use of English. They fear that it will kill a local language. It is true that with time, many languages or rather dialects, have lost their existence.

For example, in India, most of the parents encourage their children to go to English medium school for their bright future. They believe, local language will not add any feather to their cap. As a result, most of the children cannot read, write and speak their mother tongue or national language. Moreover, you will find several institutes who teach "How to Speak Fluent English?" along with other foreign languages such as French or Spanish. But will you see any institute teaching "How to speak Kannada, Bangala or Manipuri?".

So does that mean English is leading to language imperialism across globe?
