In this edition of Vidyarjan Patrika, let me share some information about our free online course, English Grammar Practice Quizzes.
There are many online courses and YouTube videos on English Grammar. They are great at teaching you the concepts with a lot of examples. Our course is different! It doesn't teach you anything! It just provides quizzes; practice quizzes to be specific.
This course has 100 quizzes organized in 10 lessons. Each lesson has 10 quizzes. Each quiz contains five questions. So in all, you get 500 questions to answer. Each question provides up to four choices. You can check your answer immediately or at the end of the quiz.
Why so many quizzes? While we have learnt English Grammar by various means, we may not be sure that we have learnt it enough. By attempting all questions in this course, you will gain the confidence that you have learnt enough of English Grammar. Why are we saying “enough” and not “full”? Well, these questions cover most of the knowledge of English Grammar needed for everyday English as well as Business English. If you get all questions correctly then you have learnt enough of English Grammar, is what we want you to believe!
What if you can’t answer any question correctly? Don’t worry! You will need to approach your English Tutor or a knowledgeable friend or Google to find the right answer. That way, you will learn English Grammar more effectively.
Here comes another question. Why these quizzes are open for you to check yourself? We are all used to exams that declare whether we have passed them or failed in them. These quizzes are not like those exams. These are practice quizzes. The intent behind these quizzes is to help you assess your own knowledge and engage in self-study of English Grammar. We don’t keep track of how may questions you got correct and how many you didn’t. It’s all for your own self-assessment and self-study.
Formally speaking, this course provides formative assessments. Formative assessments help students identify their strengths and weaknesses and target areas that need further study. They also help faculty or tutor recognize where students are struggling and address problems immediately.
Interested? Visit the course page to get started. You may need to register, if you are visiting the site for the first time. Needless to mention, this course and other courses on this site are completely free as the cost is covered by donations to Vidyarjan Foundation.
And yes, please recommend this course to others, who would benefit from it!
Happy Learning!!
