Engineering Manager Europe - Solar PV (Madrid based)

Leap29 have a fantastic opportunity which is available to be based in Madrid as the Regional Engineering Manager for the construction of solar farm EPC projects spanning across Europe. My client have their regional hub for Europe, which is located in Madrid, and they are keen to secure a candidate with high level of construction experience for Solar PV as well as Solar PV design. This position will report directly to the CTO.

Requirements:

• 10 to 15 years of experience in EPC Construction and design (min 4 - 5 years in Solar)
• Area of Experience: Solar PV(DC & AC system), LT, HT, EHT Substation/Switchyard/Transmission Electrical system design engineering of EPC projects. (solar project experience in the geography of posting is a must)
• Background: EPC & Design consultancy preferred.
• Education: Qualification Graduate Engineer – Electrical or Electronics

Preferred job Qualification:

• Specific knowledge of solar energy technologies is required.
• Experience performing related duties in the solar or related energy industry on multiple PV solar projects.
• Should be able to function equally well in collaborative, multi-discipline teams, and self-directed independent assignments.
• Self-motivated, with an ability to balance multiple projects while working under tight deadlines.
• Experience with multiple solar energy projects, and specific experience with all major electrical equipment in a solar power plant and grid connection related aspects.
• Willingness to work in multiple technologies related to renewable energy Experience with utility interconnection procedures and processes a bonus.
• Experience designing High, medium and low voltage power distribution systems.

Roles and responsibility:

Functions in Managerial role for PV solar energy project design and engineering function independently:

Engineering production:

1.    Prepare engineering deliverable plan to suit to project schedule.

2.    Develops and applies advanced engineering solutions to complex problems.

3.    Performs research and develops recommendations for equipment and / or materials selection.

4.    Ensure engineering deliverables with high quality as per departmental operating procedure and guidelines.

• Co-ordination & Meeting: Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Attending meetings with potential clients and provide technical understanding of our offering for the project and other options that can be considered.

Client Focus:

• Responsible for identification of key client interests and drivers on projects.
• Communicates client interests and drivers to project team members and develops approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work on projects.
• Focuses on client's current needs and situations.
• Typically provides support to business development or pursuit activities.

Engineering Standards:

• Proactively provides guidance and direction to developing professionals on department design guides, standards, systems and applicable engineering codes.
• Provides technical guidance to others regarding projects and disciplines.

• People Management - (supervision, career development, training, mentoring): Typically oversees performance management, career planning, recognition, learning and development, and corrective actions. Resource Management - (budgets, tools, processes, project support): Manages engineering resources for small groups of a single discipline. Resolves resource conflicts and identifies training needs.

Administrative:

• Administrative responsibilities may include office administration.
• Ensures policies, procedures, and processes are effectively implemented and communicated for workgroup.
• Ensures adherence to corporate and division programs.

Functional competencies & Job knowledge:

• Computer literate with good knowledge of MS-office & AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of simulation tools such as PVsyst, ETAP, Dialux/ Equivalent software’s.
• Familiar with International codes such as AS / NZS, IEC / EN, IEEE, BS, NFC and Australian local regulations and grid codes
• Familiar in PV plant energy assessment PV syst and shading scene simulation.
• Review/Prepare PV plant related Array layout, Cable routing layout, & etc.
• Knowledge on preparation of Bill, of Material, Request for Proposal & Request for Quotation.
• Preparation/review of technical specifications and review of tender specifications.
• Sizing/selection of PV module, SCB, Transformer, Inverter, MV/LV switchgear/CRP Panel, Cable, Bus Bar/Duct, DG, UPS, Battery/Battery charger etc.
• Calculation of Cable sizing, system Fault current, Power loss, Earthing, Lightning protection system, Lighting/Illumination system.
• Design & Drafting of Equipment layouts, SLD/Schemes, General Arrangements (GA) of Indoor/Outdoor Substations/Switchyard drawings.
• Review & Approval of Manufacturers/Vendor/Subcontractors Techno-Commercial Offers, Drawings & Documentations related to the products and services.
