Future Trends Report 2024
EFCA's latest report follows a pioneering experiment to use?AI for scenario planning in consulting engineering, with a particular focus on transportation and climate adaptation. The Future Trends Committee led this initiative?in collaboration with the Philipps University of Marburg and Bentley and Autodesk, major software suppliers to the sector, also joined, to work with students and leaders. The partners?explored how large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT can refine scenario planning, which is traditionally reliant on extensive human capital, to anticipate future uncertainties more efficiently.?This edition of the Future Trends Report underscores AI's potentially huge role in transforming scenario planning, positioning generative AI as a vital tool for consulting engineers navigating an increasingly dynamic and complex world.

The first step of this process, a written set of questions and answers between the Commissioners and the MEPs, has already taken place and the last preparations are now being made for the in-person hearings in the European Parliament, which start next Monday 4?November.
