Construction professionals are among most in-demand in Ireland
New research has shown construction jobs were among the most in-demand professions in 2024, as the sector faces a mounting skills shortage. Figures from IrishJobs show Site managers were the most sought-after profession by employers in 2024, with demand growing 39 per cent year-on-year.
Railway Order Granted for DART+ South West Electrification Project
An Bord Pleanála has approved the Railway Order for the DART+ South West project. This will extend the electrified DART network from Hazelhatch & Celbridge to Heuston Station to South Dublin via the Phoenix Park Tunnel. The application was submitted in May 2023.

A tower apartment site 500 metres from Cork City Hall has been put up for sale where An Bord Pleanala approved a 118 unit development with 17 storey tower in 2019.

THE Land Development Agency (LDA) has published draft plans for 350 affordable homes in the Cork city suburb of Wilton, with the aim of delivering the first units in late 2028.
Astatine to build three solar farms in Galway and Limerick
Astatine as been selected by International energy provider Engie to build three new solar farms in Ireland in 2025. The new solar farms, located in Galway and Limerick, will have a combined installed capacity of 18-megawatt peak (MWp), allowing them to generate enough electricity to deliver clean, renewable, affordable energy to 4,100 homes.
Uisce éireann marks the completion of €28m South Dublin and North Wicklow water supply scheme
Uisce éireann has completed one of the largest projects to upgrade the drinking water supply in South Dublin and North Wicklow. The Old Connaught Woodbrook Water Supply Scheme will provide a more reliable water supply for existing homes and businesses while also providing additional capacity for future growth.
Avaio files to build data centers in Mayo
Avaio has filed to build a data center on land in County Mayo, Ireland. Mayo Live reports Mayo Data Hub Limited has submitted an application to Mayo County Council for permission to construct a data center building at Tawnaghmore Upper and Mullaferry, Killala.
