UK Harnesses Radioactive Waste for Energy
New tech recycles 90% of nuclear waste into power-packed fuel in a major breakthrough.
A recent technological breakthrough by Moltex could enable the UK to convert plutonium into nuclear fuel, potentially powering over 3 million homes for 60 years, and allowing Britain to transform its stockpile of plutonium into nuclear fuel instead of burying it underground.
Royal Navy and NATO Submarine Rescue Training ??
Royal Navy specialists and allies from France and Norway completed a three-day exercise in Scotland to test their ability to rescue stricken submarines.
A team of more than 100 personnel undertook an intensive mass evacuation exercise using the NATO Submarine Rescue System (NSRS) – a lifeline for submarines stranded beneath the waves.
The workout provided sailors, divers, and medics the opportunity to practice the lifesaving procedures that would help evacuate a submarine disabled on the seabed.
Celebrating Women in Nuclear for IWD 2025 ??
On International Women's Day, Women in Nuclear Global highlighted the crucial role women play in advancing the nuclear sector. Despite facing obstacles, women have made significant contributions and are increasingly recognised as vital to the industry's future success.
UK Government Turbocharging Defence Innovation
The UK government is launching a new defence innovation body to accelerate the development of cutting-edge military technology. This initiative aims to create highly skilled jobs and enhance defence capabilities.
Royal Navy Tests F-35B with Meteor Missile ??
The British Royal Navy has conducted its first tests of the F-35B fighter jet armed with the Meteor missile. This integration marks a significant advancement in the UK's naval air capabilities, enhancing the F-35B's role in air-to-air combat.
