I am happy to announce an exciting collaborative project between three researchers: faculty members of two IITs and a scientist from a research lab. One engineer will be hired. Some or much of the work will be done from home. Occasional travel will be required when travel becomes easier.
What we want: The aim of the project is to develop a suite of finite element calculations, accompanied by suitable comments on the problems, for the use of mechanical design engineers. The candidate (you) will be supervised by one or more of the three collaborating researchers (us) for each of the 120 problems. Initially, you will be allowed some time to get up to speed. Later, efficient and rapid progress will be expected. We have prior experience of such work, and believe it can be done by a dedicated candidate.
What you will gain: The breadth of problems tackled will be large, and you will gain tremendously in skill, experience and understanding. Moreover, you will gain professionally in more direct ways. In any publications arising from this work, you will be acknowledged by name near the beginning. Certificates or letters of recommendation from us will clearly mention the scope of work undertaken by you. If you do well on this project, it will most probably help you with applications for higher studies (abroad or in India) and may also help you get employed as a design engineer in industry.
Qualifications:
Essential:
1. BTech/BE with high marks in mechanical, aerospace, civil engineering or a related subject.
2. Prior experience with work in FEA (with proof).
3. Good communication skills.
Desirable:
1. Good college.
2. Prior work experience.
3. Valid GATE score.
4. Letter of recommendation from a faculty member who knows you well.
Salary: Between Rs 20K to 27K per month depending on credentials and aptitude.
Other conditions: The project duration is up to 1 year. You can finish early and take up other work elsewhere if you like. If you leave in the middle, then you lose all claim to work handed over to us, and we may not even acknowledge you in publications. Any files you have handed over to us become our property. In such cases, salary received will be your complete compensation for the work done. If you stay to completion and we are happy with your work, then we may acknowledge you additionally, in various more positive ways, such as on the front covers of publications (if appropriate) or on our websites and lectures/videos. This may help your career. But do not expect co-authorship on publications.
How to apply: Simultaneously email a detailed CV plus scanned marksheets plus letters or other documents, all in one zipped file, to both [email protected] and [email protected].
Application deadline: April 30, 2021.
If nobody is found suitable, then none may be hired.
