- You will work in the Storage and Backup support team for CEC, where our mission is to provide a high level of?service, ensuring that data I/O has the lowest possible latency and is recoverable on-demand.
- Log and own all assigned incidents, problems and requests relating to storage, backup, archive and manage them through to restoration or resolution in accordance with the service level agreements to meet business needs;
- Provide regular updates on progress of incidents and requests to ensure satisfaction with the service before closing the incident or service request;
- Ensure that time recording for BAU and project activities are accurately recorded;
- Ensure that the storage function is maintained, highlighting operational requirements to refresh or replace technology to Storage & Backup Team in a pro-active and timely manner;
- Ensure that licensing and asset management is accurate, up to date and compliant;
- Provide out of hours support on a rotation basis;
- Capacity management including an awareness of data retention;
- Work closely with the service and change management teams to ensure that all changes, operational and project comply with the minimum services standards and that service risks are minimized, and the service excellence process is a key area of focus.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an IT related discipline;
- 2 year previous experience in a similar technology-based role, including dealing with the specific technologies?listed;
- Be self-motivated in keeping technical knowledge up to date.
- Broad technical knowledge of subject matter on at least two of below technologies and should be able to apply?this knowledge to solving problems:
- IBM enterprise storage systems
- IBM TSM backup software and appliances
- IBM high end tape backup libraries
- Veem backup software
- Brocade enterprise storage area networking systems
- Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate clearly at a technical and non-technical level
- Ability to document activities in a clear and concise manner
- Well-adapted and highly organized
- Ability to take direction from others when needed and not afraid to ask for help
