We are excited to extend an invitation to the 3rd IFC-PBC “Employer of Choice” Gender Diversity Awards in Karachi on 26th September, 2024. This year, we received over 40 nominations from businesses across Pakistan, demonstrating the private sector's commitment to advancing gender diversity disclosures.

This ceremony will also mark the culmination of the “Climate2Equal” Peer Learning Collaboration with the IFC, announcing 3 winners out of the 20+ companies that committed to this journey. Earlier in June, 13 of these companies had presented the progress on their pledges for gender-inclusive climate action to a jury of experts.

Don’t Miss the Debate!

This year’s ceremony features a dynamic parliamentary debate on the motion: “This House Believes that Businesses, Not Governments, Should Take Primary Responsibility for Ensuring Gender Diversity in the Workplace.”? With Pakistan’s Vision 2025 targeting a 45% female labor force participation rate by 2025—but the current rate stagnant around 22%—the debate will delve into who should lead the change: corporations or governments, through an exploration of each stakeholder’s role and sphere of influence.

  • Date: 26th September 2024
  • Time: 10:00 – 01:30 pm
  • Location: Khorshed Mahal, Avari Towers, Karachi

We encourage you to register your teams to be part of this event. For any queries regarding the awards or ceremony, please do not hesitate to contact me or my colleague, Rajaa Bokhari, at [email protected]?

CERB recently held a session on 101 on Climate Governance in collaboration with ACCA Pakistan, to foster meaningful dialogue on governance practices in response to climate challenges. The event brought together leaders from the private sector to discuss strategies for enhancing governance and collaboration. The session emphasized the crucial role of joint efforts between regulators, state organizations, and businesses in managing climate risks and driving sustainable development. Participants were actively engaged in exploring practical strategies to integrate climate governance into their operations, fostering resilience, and contributing to long-term sustainability goals. We extend our sincere thanks to Aucky Pratama , whose expertise and leadership were instrumental in guiding the discussion. His valuable insights enriched the dialogue and spurred thoughtful conversations on the evolving landscape of climate governance.

The FCDO team from the British High Commission visited CERB last week to discuss their research on climate change and the cost of inaction. The team included Richard, Private Sector Development Advisor; Aysha Johnson , Private Sector Team Leader; and Sarabjit Singh, Political Officer for Climate and Economy. The team discussed Pakistan's climate risks and the various phases of the Climate Investment Fund for Pakistan (CIFPAK). The CERB team also highlighted their work on Climate Risk Awareness in collaboration with GIZ Pakistan. The toolkit and readiness study provides businesses with an introductory understanding of the risks to enterprises stemming from climate change.
