The top most challenge faced by almost every leaders, entrepreneurs and Marketing professionals is, "Engaging". How things have changed over the last 2 decades and how fast it will change ( may not even take a decade !) when we talk about engagement. Pre-Internet era ( May be 20 years back ?), the term Employee Engagement, Customer Engagement were perhaps found in text book and were practiced by selected MNCs. Today it is there in each strategist mind, actively eating out large pie of thinking brain !
This actually force us to pause and ask, "what do we mean by Engagement" ?! Is it happy customer ? or is it repeat buyer ? or repeat visitor on your website or repeat visitor on you mobile apps? or is it the one who give 'feedback' or place Comment after each article or goods purchase ? Or the one who become an extension of your company or brand ? Is he your happy employee ? etc. etc.
To me simply, Engaging means creating & retaining the emotional space in the heart of the customer, employee or anyone who is instrumental in revenue generation !
Now that we are tech savvy and have several data source, and research to help us find space in consumer's mind, The need is to expand this thought process beyond the fixed definition of Engagement.
Engaging that client or that employee or a stake holder is not that easy task as it is being perceived sometime. One need to really invest lot of time in building the 'Engaging Culture'. Few points I am trying to put here for larger audience consumption and inviting reviews/debate/discussion/feedback.
- Engagement Culture is ESSENTIALLY should flow from Top
- Engagement should not be aimed with a narrow means of business gains
- Engagement activity should feature in 'Daily To Do List' of Managers & Leaders.
- Customer Engagement should be seen beyond social media and page likes.
- Engagement does not mean always smiling employees/consumers, instead it means 'Live and Reflective' group of people ( Employees/Customers/Stake Holders)
- Engaging activities should be looked beyond stereo types.
Engagement is critical for growth and sustaining it, we assist you to build the culture. Do take a pause and feel free to strike a business discussion with us. In the mean while you may reflect on this post.

9 年Uday Dholakia i agree with you, to me engagement means active relationship, and how you keep the relationship alive ? by constantly creating opportunity to bring a surprise element, in simple words keep the romance !! for organisations in today's times it is so much more important to bring in the no. of live relationships rather than just the following numbers and / or likes to one's campaigns !!
