Delivering Sticky Change

How to ensure technology change and people change work together to deliver the benefits executives expect of transformation.

Transformation success is measured in many ways including people continuing to use new technologies, systems and processes for business-as-usual after migration.

Even when we deliver technology on time and budget, giving ourselves a pat on the back, we may not deliver clear benefits that cement long term success for our organisation.

In this white paper we look at how to make a clear and simple case for change. How to keep key stakeholders engaged with transformation so they understand what is happening, trust the programme team, are supportive and willingly change behaviours to the new ways of working.

Overcoming Cultural and Psychological Barriers to Change

No alt text provided for this image

Join us as we explore key topics addressing psychological and cultural barriers to change, and share how to engage stakeholders in meaningful ways that demonstrate the potential of change.

We will be looking in detail at the five psychological and eight cultural barriers that we need to manage for change to happen.

Plus I’ll be sharing some of the engagement and communication tools I use with my clients to overcome these barriers. They are practical and easy to apply; you will be able to use them with your teams also.

Our practical and interactive workshop is for you if you want to:

  • Identify the key factors that impede change in your organisation
  • Overcome stereotypes and cultural misunderstandings
  • Persuade leaders in different countries to agree on the changes needed
  • Encourage different generations to change
  • Persuade senior leaders to focus on the people side of change
  • Speed up the rate at which people absorb the need to change
  • Hear top tips on how to create buy-in in a multicultural environment
  • Collect tangible examples of engagement and communication tools your team can use.

Reserve your place here and join us on 31 May at 13:00-14:00 UK time.

Do register on zoom even if you can’t join us live, as then we are able to send you the link to watch the playback afterwards.

Are You Optimistic or Pessimistic

How optimistic or pessimistic do you feel about the future of our world?

I asked friends and family this question recently, on a scale of 1-10, and their answers ranged between one and three; the younger they were the lower their score.

This question proposes two scenarios; at one end the belief we are destroying our world and it won't recover, and at the other end no matter the damage we do nature is resilient.

My own score was close to ten. Partly this comes from a training course I delivered in March for people leading communities of practice in European environmental charities. They were passionate about making a difference and had the energy and drive to do so.

Then over Lent I led a bible study series, based on Tearfund materials, looking at how God sees our world. I was reminded that we all have a part to play ?in the renewal and redemption process.

My small efforts recycling, buying second hand, growing plants and veg, walking and taking the train do make a difference.

Do share your own view in my poll that asks how optimistic or pessimistic you feel about the future of our world.

Siemens Alex Clark Shares His Experiences of Agile Transformation

Siemens digital transformation director Alex Clark shares his biggest learnings from leading change in our April Expert Insights video interview.

The UK organisation has been changing its structure so teams can adopt agile ways of working over the past three years.

Unsurprisingly, the biggest learnings have been around culture as people have needed time to let go of hierarchical ways of working and move to self-managing teams.

Alex also shares learning around Siemens decision to focus on service delivery rather than technology. The transformation team aim to make apps, processes and procedures as widely available as possible, as easy to use as possible, and easy to maintain, update and continually refresh with additional functionality as required.

He adds that change agents are key to helping their teams understand the why as well as the what and how.

We share a range of models and techniques you and your team can use; they are easy to understand, easy to use, easy to explain and easy to tailor to your team’s needs.

Together they form a structure for demonstrating return on investment and winning recognition for change and transformation activities.

What Has Jo Ann Been Up To

Wellbeing, ensuring psychological balance in life and work is important to me.

Partly, it comes through fortnightly afternoons off for visits to a museum or art gallery to immerse myself in beauty.

Last week I was at Emery Walker’s House in Hammersmith. This cottage, with its authentic Arts & Crafts interiors, is an ordinary family home. The same family lived in the cottage for just shy of 100 years and made few changes after initial decorations in the 1920’s.

Emery Walker was a close friend of William Morris, who designed most of the furnishing and gifted items in his will including his favourite chair.

I came away feeling refreshed and inspired by the colour schemes, embroideries and vibrant pattern combinations.
