Engage, Empower, Excel: The Role of Staff in Shaping Strategy

This is article three in our five part series about how to formulate a successful strategy for your organisation.?

In today’s fast-paced business environment, organisations often neglect staff involvement in strategy development, leading to disengagement, misaligned objectives, and missed opportunities. Involving employees in strategy creation is crucial for long-term success.

We believe the most successful strategies are those shaped by both leadership and staff. Our approach is based on the 3 E’s.

  • Engage: Your team needs to feel invested in the strategy to drive it forward. Open communication channels and feedback loops ensure that everyone understands their role in achieving the company’s goals. We go a step further by encouraging key staff to be part of the strategy formation. This builds alignment plus these engaged employees are more likely to contribute innovative solutions as they know many of the challenges (and opportunities) facing a business.
  • Empower: True empowerment comes when you give your staff the tools, the resources, and the confidence to take ownership of work. An effective strategy should identify the right direction to point the business and then also ensure all are pushing in that direction. This is at the core of our ‘active team-led strategy’ framework resulting in empowered employees making decisions that are in line with strategic objectives, to optimise outcomes and achieve the strategic goals.
  • Excel: Where engagement and empowerment are in place, outcomes will follow. Empowered teams deliver results. An ‘active team-led strategy’ creates this environment, it ensures accountability and also promotes adaptability as the empowered team members can adapt without losing sight of the end goals.

At LTV Partners, we work with our clients to achieve these goals. We do not practise strategy by slideware. We work closely to develop an ‘active team-led strategy’ co-created with our clients that includes key staff involvement and an execution plan to optimise the chance for success.
