The Energy You Bring into the Room

The Energy You Bring into the Room

Day 357 out of 1,095

Energy is everything. It’s the invisible force that shapes interactions, drives decisions, and defines leadership presence. And the more I dive into my entrepreneurial journey, the more I realize: the energy you bring into a room can be the difference between a deal closed and a deal lost.

The Meeting That Taught Me Everything

A few months ago, I walked into a high-stakes investor meeting. I was prepared, the numbers made sense, and the deck was solid. But something felt off. The energy in the room was flat, and I—without realizing it—matched it. My pitch lacked that spark, that conviction. The result? Polite nods, some follow-up questions, but no real momentum.

Fast forward to another meeting, same pitch, different energy. This time, I came in charged up—clear on my mission, excited about the vision, fully believing in what I was selling. The investors leaned in, asked sharper questions, and by the end, we were discussing next steps with enthusiasm. The difference? Not the deck. Not the numbers. The energy.

Energy Is a Skill—Train It

Charisma, confidence, and presence aren’t just things you’re born with. They’re muscles you can train. I’m still working on it, but here are three things that help me improve:

  1. Pre-Meeting Rituals – Before any big conversation, I take five minutes to shift into the right mindset. Whether it's visualizing success, listening to an energizing song, or just standing tall and breathing deeply, I make sure I walk in ready.
  2. Reading the Room – Energy isn’t just about what I bring; it’s about how I adjust. If a room feels flat, it’s my job to lift it. If it’s tense, I find a way to ease in with the right tone.
  3. Owning the Mission – When I remind myself why I’m doing this—why this startup matters, why this conversation is important—my energy naturally aligns with my purpose.

Your Energy = Your Impact

Think about the last time you walked into a room. Did you elevate the energy or drain it? The people who make the biggest impact—leaders, founders, visionaries—aren’t just smart; they know how to shift the dynamic around them.

So here’s my challenge to you: before your next big meeting, pitch, or conversation, take a moment to check in on your energy. What are you bringing into the room?

Let me know in the comments—how do you manage your energy in high-stakes moments?
