ENGIE and our partner Meridiam, have just won a major partnership contract with University of Iowa. One of the first objectives of the partnership with University of Iowa is to close a coal-fired power plant by 2025 at the latest. Over a 50-year period and for an amount of at least $1 billion, we will help this major American university to significantly improve its energy uses across the board for a lower and greener consumption.
We are very familiar with American universities and their needs. This contract comes after an equivalent one we won two and a half years ago with Ohio State University. This first partnership is a reference for us: OSU has doubled the rate of investment initially planned in the tender thanks to the quality of Engie team’s work on site. This innovative partnership and its results helped us being known in the American MidWest and especially by ISU teams.
Many American universities manage large territories, many buildings and energy production and transmission assets. They are real cities. They are emblematic of the second phase of the transition because they must:
- invest to decarbonize their mix;
- make significant efficiency savings to free up the financial resources necessary for investments;
- outperform their competitors in the decarbonation process to maintain their leadership and the reputation of their brand..
From now on, ENGIE is perfectly positioned to enter into these highly integrated partnerships that customers are asking for:
- as a service provider we have the knowledge of the field and the ability to integrate seamlessly with the client's teams on site;
- as a leader in digital technology, in heating and cooling and in the renovation of buildings we can generate significant savings;
- as an energy company we can build and dedicate renewable production capacities on site and off site;
- as robust company our signature allows us to have the best financing conditions to invest in our clients' assets;
- finally, all our skills allow the customer to transfer to us an extensive set of tasks, which are not his core business, in just one contract.
Engie has taken the lead by transforming earlier than its competitors.
The acceleration of the energy transition of multinationals, local government authorities and territories such as universities is confirmed. We are ready!

4 年Excellent ! Engie has a? great vision and strategy to accelerate and supply tomorrow its customers with? decarbonated energies . Its a great but deep transformation?to protect our planet and anticipate the lack of oil and gas tomorrow. Group like Watterall in Sweden which has? been already taken this necessary direction couple years ago is also an example in that manner.?
