Riddle Me This...
It's not on your resume. Or overtly visible on your LinkedIn profile. It's rarely if ever included on any job description. But, it will make or break your candidacy, ability to lead and effectively network
Your ENERGY.
Energy is vastly underrated.
Few really talk about it, or WHY it's so important. Specifically, what does it convey about you? Not just while you're looking for your next role, but as a leader, and high value person to have in their network.
I've been told that I have great energy, BUT, it wasn't always that way.
When I was unhappy in my job, I was miserable and sluggish.
Everyday I trudged through molasses with my internal voiceover "time to make the donuts" in my head." We've all been there.
Author Brendon Burchard in his book "High Performance Habits" ranks ENERGY as his number two HP habit after clarity. He explains what I believe to be 1000000% true.
"The more energy someone has the more likely they are to be happy and climb to the top of their primary field of interest.”

1. Whip Out The Journal
Use journaling as your outlet to release the good, the dreams, possibilities, the bad, the ugly, the disappointing and wins.
Why?
In the classic?study, unemployed engineers journaled about their of their search journey for only 20 mins for five days. Fast forward, eight months later ... 52% found new jobs compared to 18.6% for the control groups. This effort improved emotional processing?and a reduction in emotional reactivity. Yeah to that!!
2. Stay Energized, With Activity
The days when I was on the market I was often so fixated on my job search that I fought with to get in my workout.
Bad move!
Nothing left me more sluggish, down or hopeless than blowing off my workout.
Expending energy GIVES you more energy -- and a sense of dignity and self respect. Even if the shit hit the fan, a workout is a huge confidence booster,
3. A Sensible Outlook On Life: AKA Perspective
I can platitude you to death or simply say this: focus on your GAINS in your search not the GAPS. And, to get some of the best and most refreshing tips to do so, read ????
No one wants to stay in their search indefinitely and while at times it may feel like it will never end, it will.
If you want to get there sooner with more success (including clarity, confidence, compensation, + your criteria) consider working with a coach.
I would HIGHLY recommend Teegan Bartos, Claire Davis, Nii Ato Bentsi-Enchill, MA, Ed.M, Erica Reckcamp, Lisa Rangel and Shelley Piedmont.

2 年I think traditional energy definitions favor the extroverts. And I have also seen “busy” energy not be effective. I think we have to be careful of an energy “halo” effect where we assume outward energy must mean competency or relevant results. It’s one piece of someone’s overall portfolio of competency. 2 年As a Recruiter I assess your energy during the first second of the first phone call. Yes, I can't see you but you energy comes across through your voice. How quickly you pick up the phone, the pace and tone of your voice. If you smile, yes I can hear it! I once had a Russian lady on the phone who sounded 20 years younger than her actual age! My mind was blown away! I still remember our conversation and her energy 15 years later. Energy has nothing to do with your age. You can be young and lack energy. Very interesting read and great energy always LoRen ?? gReiFf
