ENERGY STAR Challenge Certification
As an established leader in the mattress industry, aiming to do the right thing is at the core of our business. We strive to do the right thing for our customers by developing innovative products to help them get the sleep they deserve, but the idea of going the extra mile extends beyond our products. Tempur Sealy strives to be an energy-efficient and sustainable company by leveraging well-established practices and continually seeking to identify areas of opportunity to reduce our environmental footprint. With this goal in mind, we are proud to share that our foam manufacturing facility in Duffield, Virginia, is certified by the ENERGY STAR Challenge for Industry.
The ENERGY STAR Challenge is a joint program between the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy. The program aims to help protect the environment by adopting energy-efficient equipment and practices and reducing greenhouse gases. ENERGY STAR-certified buildings save energy and money and help protect the environment by generating fewer greenhouse gas emissions than typical buildings. To be certified as ENERGY STAR, a facility must meet strict energy performance standards set by EPA.
The Duffield facility has achieved a 48.5% reduction in energy consumption per pound of chemical processed since 2015. By meeting the ENERGY STAR Challenge, the facility has averted 6,399 tons of greenhouse gases and saved enough energy to power more than 806 homes in the last year.
We are honored to have the opportunity to do the right thing and make a positive impact on more than just sleep. You can learn more about the ENERGY STAR Challenge for Industry here.??
