“Energy and persistence conquer all things.” - NEVER GIVE UP!!!
Never Give Up means believing in yourself. It means willingness to accept “failure” so you can learn the critical skill of adaptation. It means not compromising on your most important values, and walking the walk, rather than just talking the talk. It means living the life you want and are passionate about.
As a busy mother, working mother, it’s not difficult to feel overwhelmed, and maybe at those times you want to give up goals that are most precious to you but seem so far out of reach. If you’ve been feeling that way, here are five reasons why you should never, ever give up on a goal that is important to you.
1. Life isn’t about talk; it’s about commitment. A dream isn’t worth anything until you try to put it into practice. When you dedicate yourself to your dream, whatever it may be, you find yourself at the intersection of perception and reality. This idea has probably existed in your mind for years, taking on a particular shape and existing entirely as a function of your own imagination. Now, when you put it to the test, it’s time to get real. It’s time to give birth to the idea and fully commit to nurturing that dream the same way you would nurture a child.
2. Resilience and adaptation are the keys to a vibrant life and healthy mind. When you are trying to manifest any idea, there will be setbacks, failures and disappointments. Newsflash: Setbacks, failures and disappointments are good for you! They are the best education you can get, as they teach you to adapt. Giving up is like dropping out of school; you miss out on critical experiences and important lessons, and do not learn the enormous value of failure.
3. Quitting can become a habit. If you give up on the things that matter most to you, you will likely establish a pattern of giving up on anything when things don’t go the way you hoped. You will not learn the importance of persistence — and anything worthwhile requires persistence.
4. Values are the most important thing. Persisting with goals that are important to you means placing most significance on your values, rather than convenience or expedience. Hopefully, you wouldn’t ever give up on your values, and you wouldn’t give up on the ideas that reflect those values.
5. Self-belief is everything. Giving up on your important goals is tantamount to giving up on yourself. You are a unique person with your own gifts and talents and no one will invest in them more than you. Perhaps millions of people have had the same goals and dreams as you, but everyone manifests these aspirations differently — and uniquely.
So what does never giving up really mean? It means believing in yourself. It means willingness to accept “failure” so you can learn the critical skill of adaptation. It means not compromising on your most important values, and walking the walk, rather than just talking the talk. It means living the life you want and are passionate about.
I pushed through the struggles I faced during the startup of my new businesses, and learned a lot about my dream by implementing it and bringing it to life. I learned to adapt. I learned that if you’re not being challenged, you’re not living life to the fullest. I learned that if you follow someone else dreams, you won’t be as engaged and excited as you are when following your own. I’ve also learned that all of these benefits are good for your brain, as well as your soul. So never quit on the things that are important to you. Self-belief is the most important belief there is.
How To Never Give Up
Let’s go through each step together.
1. Stay alive. As long as you are alive, anything is still possible.
2. Lower your expectations.
Most successes are not overnight successes. It’s the job of every PR company hired by a newly successful startup to make that startup look like an overnight success. You hear things like, “They just hacked this in a couple nights on the weekend, and a week later got a million users” or “it was just a hobby they were doing on the side, but then one day the site crashed because of traffic.”
Some of these stories are true, but for most of them – you will never know the whole story. Guessing how others succeed is wasting your time. Paul Graham warns every batch of founders at Y Combinator that only 1% of them will experience success really fast. What ends up happening is founders all expect they will be that 1%. You can work for it. But you can’t expect it. Lower your expectations.
3. Remember that you are stronger than you think.
At times, you might privately think to yourself that you can’t handle the pressure. You have to persist. And just doing the same thing is not enough. You must try different things before you learn what works. Let’s say of the 99 things you have tried, nothing works well. Will you try the 100th thing? If you think about it, the 99 failures have almost no bearing on the success of the following one, as long as you trying different things.
4. Fake it. Other people will do the same. They will never give up, why would you?
Fake success. Everyone does. You should as well. Don’t lie, but act as if you already succeeded. It makes a difference.
5. Don’t compare yourself to people who already succeeded.
Never give up if Bob is doing great. You never know how he is really doing. Even if you think you know, you don’t.
After you have done all of this, you will fall into the dip. It’s the lowest point in your whole journey, a hopeless-looking place that comes right before success – Seth Godin wrote an entire book about it. If this sounds like baseless motivational talk, think again. When you fall really low, take a bunch of risks and fail people around you, you have nothing to lose – and that is exactly the time you are likely to take you biggest risk and possibly succeed.
Most people who look at this info graphic think that they are stuck in the dip. The trick is that if you are stuck, you have to keep moving. And sometimes that means going back to square one. If nothing else, never give up because you only might have one last thing to overcome. Now stand up and say to yourself as loud as you can, “Never give up! Never Give up! Never Give up!”
“When you are going through hell, keep on going. Never never never give up.” ~ Winston Churchill
As you walk through life, you will fall down many times. You will fail and you will make mistakes, but that’s okay. Keep in mind that life is a process of becoming. You go through life to find yourself, to become yourself. Through every little thing you do, through every word you say and through every action you take, you are meant to discover more and more about yourself. About your inner journey, your life path and about the purpose and meaning of your own life.
We are all here for a reason. Each and every one of us has a purpose to fulfill. We all have a unique and precious contribution to make to this world and to every living being that inhabits this Earth. And the more we let go of our fears, excuses, and limitations, and the need to live our lives according to other people’s expectations, the easier it will be for us to contribute and to do the beautiful work that we came here to do. The easier it will be for us to make our dreams come true. And this powerful video is meant to remind us of that so that we can reclaim our power and make all our dreams come true.
GIVE UP...NEVER TO BE GIVEN UP...
Sometimes, to become successful and get closer to the person we can become, we don’t need to add things — we need to give up some of them. There are certain things that are universal which will make you successful if you give them up, even though each one of us could have a different definition of success. Some of them are so simple, you could give them up today, while it might take a bit longer to let go of others.
1. Give Up The Unhealthy Lifestyle
Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live. — Jim Rohn
If you want to achieve anything in life, everything starts with your health. First, you have to take care of yourself, and there are only two things you need to keep in mind: A healthy diet and physical activity.
2. Give Up The Short-Term Mindset
You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough. — Mae West
Successful people set long-term goals, and they know these aims are merely the result of short-term habits that they need to do every day. These healthy habits shouldn’t be something you do; they should be something you embody. There is a difference between: ‘Working out to get a summer body’ and ‘Working out because that’s who you are.’
ake long-term goals and make the steps that will get you to them part of your daily life.
3. Give Up Playing Small
Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people will not feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone, and as we let our light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our fear, our presence automatically liberates others. – Marianne Williamson
If you never take great opportunities or allow your dreams to become realities, you will never unleash your true potential. And the world will never benefit from what you could have achieved.
So voice your ideas, don’t be afraid to ‘fail’, and certainly don’t be afraid to succeed.
4. Give Up Your Excuses
It’s not about the cards you’re dealt, but how you play the hand. ― Randy Pausch, The Last Lecture
Successful people know that they are responsible for their life; no matter their starting point, weaknesses, or past failures. Realising that you are responsible for what happens next in your life is both frightening and exciting. And when you do, that becomes the only way you can become successful, because excuses limit and prevent us from growing personally and professionally.
Own your life; no one else will.
Only you are responsible for your happiness, so go live the life you dream of!
5. Give Up The Fixed Mindset
The future belongs to those who learn more skills and combine them in creative ways. ― Robert Greene, Mastery
People with a ‘fixed mindset’ think their intelligence or talents are simply fixed traits, and that talent alone creates success — without effort. They’re wrong. Successful people know this. They invest an immense amount of time on a daily basis to develop a ‘growth mindset’, acquire knowledge, learn new skills and change their perception so that it can benefit their lives.
Remember, who you are today is not who you have to be tomorrow.
As Einstein once said: “Genius is 1% talent and 99% hard work.”
6. Give Up Believing In The ‘Magic Bullet’
Every day, in every way, I’m getting better and better. — émile Coué
Overnight success is a myth. Successful people know that making small continual improvements every day will be compounded and, over time, will give them their desired results. That is why you should plan for the future whilst maintaining focus on the day that’s ahead of you.
Aim to improve just 1% every day.
7. Give Up Your Perfectionism
Shipping beats perfection. — Khan Academy’s Development Mantra
Nothing will ever be perfect, no matter how much we try. Fear of failure (or even fear of success) often prevents us from taking action and putting our creation out there in the world. But a lot of opportunities will be lost if we wait for everything to be perfect.
So ‘ship’, and then improve (that 1%).
Perfectionism kills progress.
8. Give Up Multi-Tasking
You will never reach your destination if you stop and throw stones at every dog that barks. ― Winston S. Churchill
Successful people know this. That’s why they choose one thing and then beat it into submission. No matter what it is — a business idea, a conversation, or a workout.
Being fully present and committed to one task is indispensable.
9. Give Up Your Need to Control Everything
Some things are up to us, and some things are not up to us. — Epictetus, Stoic philosopher
Differentiating these two is important. Detach from the things you cannot control, and focus on the ones you can, and know that sometimes, the only thing you will be able to control is your attitude toward something.
And remember, nobody can be frustrated while saying ‘Bubbles’ in an angry voice.
It is a waste of energy trying to control things that can’t be or aren’t worth controlling.
10. Give Up Saying ‘Yes’ To Things That Don’t Support Your Goals
He who would accomplish little must sacrifice little; he who would achieve much must sacrifice much; he who would attain highly must sacrifice greatly. — James Allen
Successful people know that in order to accomplish their goals, they will have to say ‘no’ to certain tasks, activities, and demands from their friends, family, and colleagues.
In the short-term, you might sacrifice a bit of instant gratification, but when your goals come to fruition, it will all be worth it.
11. Give Up The Toxic People in Your Life
You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. ― Jim Rohn
People we spend the most time with, add up to who we become. There are people who are less accomplished in their personal and professional life, and there are people who are more accomplished than us. If you spend time with those who are behind you, your average will go down and with it, your success. But if you spend time with people who are more accomplished than you, no matter how challenging it might be, you will become more successful.
Take a look at around you and see if you need to make any changes.
Make sure the people you spend the most time with are enriching your life.
12. Give Up Your Need To Be Liked
The only way to avoid pissing people off is to do nothing important. — Oliver Emberton
Think of yourself as a market niche. There will be a lot of people who like that niche, and there will be individuals who don’t. And no matter what you do, you won’t be able to make the entire market like you. This is entirely natural, and there’s no need to justify yourself.
The only thing you can do is to remain authentic, improve and provide value every day, and know that if the number of ‘haters’ grow, it simply means that you’re doing important things.
13. Give Up Your Dependency on Social Media and Television
The trouble is, you think you have time. — Jack Kornfield
Impulsive web browsing and television watching are diseases of today’s society. These two should never be used as an escape from your life or your goals. Unless your goals depend on either, you should minimise (or even eliminate) your dependency on them, and direct that time towards things that can enrich your life.
Be conscious of your T.V. and social media use.
Be Bold, Take the Plunge
Life isn’t always easy, especially if your heart yearns to be doing things differently. And whilst it may seem hard at first to take the plunge – that inevitable leap into the unknown – committing to being the greatest version of you; truly living your life how you envisage it, will be the best decision you will ever make. Boldly go in the direction of your dreams.
Stand tall and show the world what you are made of. When the world beats you down, find a reason to get back up again. Never give up on success.
Try, try, try and try again.
Remember, the only way you can fail is if you give up. Every time you fail, you come one step closer to success.
When you look back on your life, don't have regrets. Believe in yourself, believe in your future, you will find your way.
The fire burning inside you that is very powerful, it is waiting to burn bright. You are meant to do important things.
Following your dreams can be both terrifying and exciting. Inspiration from momentum will save your sinking soul.
Persist and persuade others about your plans, as they are real. Nobody can do this but you.
Most people master the obvious, you are creating something that wasn't there before. Its bold, it's beautiful and it's you.
Give it your best and your dreams will come to life. Success is yours.
Go for your dreams, it is your turn.
- t seems when we are young we have a bunch of dreams, and we feel that anything is possible. The older we get however, the further away some of those dreams get. Why is that? Did someone tell you that it was impossible? Did you try and fail? Are the odds stacked against you? All of these can be discouraging, but they are still not reasons to let go of your dream. This list are reasons why, despite your age, circumstance, or obstacle, you should never give up on your dreams.
There is no age limit
- There are plenty of stories about people doing something amazing like getting their college degree, discovering a scientific breakthrough, or writing a best-selling novel at ages that surprise us, either young or old. Just because you are a certain age, it does not mean you can or can't do something.
- There are very few careers (the military being one) that set actual age limits. It doesn't say that you have to stop anywhere that you have to stop learning and growing when you reach a certain number of years. We put these restraints on ourselves. Don't let your age stand in the way of pursing something that you've always wanted to do.
Time passes anyway
- Time marches on with our without us. If we hesitate to do something because it will take too long, before we know it that time will have passed. We will be in the same spot we were when we wondered if we should start.
- We tend to live in a society that wants everything instantly. Days of waiting are in the past. With email, overnight shipping, 1-minute microwave meals and downloading we can have anything within seconds. Starting on a journey that will take months, even years, may seem overwhelming. But don't let that stop you. Take the first step. It may seem hard, impossible even, but if we don't start, we will never finish.
- The journey may not be easy, but will it be worth it? My guess is yes. If it is a worthy goal, don't let the amount of time it takes stop you from going for it.
You never know what will happen
- Fear is a great deterrent to going after a dream. What if we fail? What if we realize that we are not as good as we thought? What if we can't do it?
- It is easy to imagine the worse, but you do not know that is what will happen. Perhaps the opposite will be true, who knows? Don't let what might happen to you stop you from trying. Besides, failure is good for us. We will never learn how to grow and become the best version of ourselves if we do not fail once in a while. Our greatest mistakes lead to our biggest triumphs.
The harder it is the more worth it will be
Is your dream something easy? Something that almost anyone who tries it will succeed? Probably not, otherwise you would have already realized your dream and you wouldn't be reading this article. It is most likely something difficult- something that you are not even sure you are able to accomplish. That's okay. The harder it is, the more worth it will be when you actually do it. Don't let the fear of hard work stand in the way of going for it.
There is a reason we have dreams. They are usually objectives, goals and wishes we have for our life that we may feel are not obtainable. The only person standing in your way is you. Even if someone tells you that you can't do it, you choose if you will listen or not. Don't evver give up.. Dream big, never give up – the most important thing you can do for yourself. Never lose focus on what you aim for in life, the idea is to never build barriers in your heart and do everything with love. People who fight against the wind always have a chance to gain, because they prefer the risk and gain experiences....all the BEST...NEVER GIVE UP...
