Greece shines in the global renewable energy landscape and Portugal beat record for renewable energy production in 2023

"Green production in Portugal continues to increase and, in 2023, electricity consumption from renewable energy was the highest ever. In total, 61% of electricity consumption came from renewable production, amounting to 31.2 TWh."

Wind energy supplied most of Portugal's electricity, accounting for 25% of renewable consumption. Hydroelectric production was in second place, accounting for 23%. Although investment in solar energy continues to increase, it only accounted for 7%, REN said in a statement.
