The best place to put a wind turbine
The best places for wind farms are in coastal areas, at the tops of rounded hills, open plains and gaps in mountains - places where the wind is strong and reliable. Some are offshore.
To be worthwhile, you need an average wind speed of around 25 km/h.
In the United States, the fastest winds occur in between the West Coast and the Midwest, along the gusty Great Plains
In Europe one of the windiest regions is Scotland.
??Fun fact
The windiest place on Earth is Commonwealth Bay, Australia’s gateway to Antarctica.
