Energy

Energy

Today, I'm talking about Energy.

Energy is what everything is made of, and it's required for everything that we do. When we're high in energy, anything is possible. We feel like we can do anything.

When we're low in energy, everything becomes difficult.

Energy is a fundamental requirement for making the most of the lives we have. Like everything else in the Universe, if we lose energy, we lose momentum. Our lives contract.

The more energy we have, the more we can expand who we are. When we have high energy, we see the world differently. Challenges seem smaller, things seem easier to manage, and life flows.

If we don't keep a routine to guarantee high energy, it's not going to magically appear upon our desk.

Other than coffee.

That may literally appear on our desk, and give us energy.

But, if we're relying on coffee for our energy, that will only take us so far. We've all been there, how does 4 coffees a day make you feel after a while? Pretty low energy.

Energy is everything. I can't stress it enough. If you want to get the most out of yourself in your life, you need habits, rituals, that guarantee you have energy, no matter what.

For us, Human's, we can talk about energy in three forms.

  1. Physical Energy
  2. Psychological Energy
  3. Spiritual Energy

Body, mind, spirit. Who and what we all are.

So let's look at each of these forms of energy, and how we can bring more energy to these aspects of ourselves.

Physical Energy

How we feel in our physical body. The starting point for our energy levels.

We all know this; a sedentary lifestyle, eating more food than our body needs, overconsumption of toxins like alcohol and caffeine, lack of sleep, are all going to affect our body in negative ways. They will reduce the amount of energy in the chemistry in our body.

Whereas; exercising regularly, eating the amount of food our body needs, ensuring we are getting enough nutrients, drinking enough water, regular sleep cycles, are all going to create energy in the chemistry in our body.

And that energy is power. If we feel fit, vital, strong, and healthy in our body, that is going to show up in our life.

Takeaway: Pick one habit that you know will bring more energy to your physical body. I'll explain what to do with it later.

Psychological Energy

Psychological energy is created by the power of our convictions and the strengthening of our mind. How powerful do you feel yourself to be?

If we're half committed to our lives, we break promises to ourselves, we let fear govern our world and what we do, psychological energy will be hard to conjure up. Because it's not being practiced, mental strength will not come easily and our lives will feel burdensome and difficult.

However, if we're deeply committed to what we want to create in our life, and nothing is going to stand in our way, psychological energy will be there in abundance.

Psychological energy comes from choosing to believe things about ourselves and our world that make us feel strong and powerful, to see ourselves and our circumstances that way.

Here's a few ways to create psychological energy, or mental strength:

  1. Take time, and decide upon a course for your life that excites you, that speaks to who you are. Start taking steps in that direction.
  2. Choose to do something difficult, that puts you out of your comfort zone, that will require you to grow. And do it. The last part is important.
  3. Make a bold promise to yourself about a discipline you're going to implement, every day, for 30 days to improve yourself. It doesn't matter what happens, do it every day for 30 days.

Takeaway: Pick one thing you can do to create psychological energy in your life, I'll explain what to do with it later.

Spiritual Energy

This could be described in any number of ways. I'm going to describe it as the connection we have with ourselves, and everything else, at the deepest level.

We are in relationship with everything around us, everything is energetically connected. If you don't agree that's fair enough, but don't ask me, ask science.

The creation of spiritual energy, therefore, is about deepening our connection to ourselves, and to everything else. When we feel connected to ourselves, others people, places, and things, we feel that connection and it gives us energy.

One of the most powerful ways to connect to this energy is through our heart, which is the most energetic organ in our bodies. Connecting often with our heart, will calm our mind and bring us energy. We often neglect it in our busy lives, but if we listen to it, it will serve us very well.

Here's a few ways to bring spiritual energy more into your life:

  1. Meditation.
  2. Go for a walk, somewhere that brings you peace.
  3. Take time to reflect, to think about how you feel and connect to yourself.
  4. Take time to connect to the energy of your heart (there's a lot of great guided meditations out there for this, if you're particularly interested).
  5. Speak from the heart with the people you love.

Takeaway: Pick one thing you can do to connect to spiritual energy in your life, I'll explain what to do with it right now.

Creating a Routine for High Energy

So, what to do with each of these rituals you've picked?

My suggestion to you, if you want to experience greater levels of energy in your life, is to take each of these 3 habits you have chosen, and practice them for 30 days. One for each form of energy.

Each week, choose how many times you will practice each habit to create more energy in your life. Then do it.

If you're going to do it, DO IT, for 30 days. No matter what. Remember, we create energy by the things we do. This is about a ritual for creating energy (in other words, if you don't feel energetic, do these things, and you will).

Remember, keeping promises to yourself creates enormous psychological energy. Make a contract with yourself, you'll be giving yourself a bonus deal for high energy.

Choose to bring energy to your life, you'll thank yourself. Things will be easier and more enjoyable.

David.
