Energy-Boosting Strategies for Better Focus and Performance

For high performance, you need health. To be successful, you must manage your energy effectively, not just through diet and exercise, but through holistic steps that encompass your physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
Intuitively we understand this, then?when life gets busy,?we quickly set aside?self-care. But that won't help drive success, will it!
In this week's blog I share a few strategies for boosting energy, and how they'll benefit your work and life.

Learn to manage your energy.
And I’m not just talking about eating right and exercise (although that’s a great start). I’m talking about energy management from head to toe – with small-steps-strategies to strengthen your physical body and the brilliant mind in it – physically, mentally, emotionally – even cognitively. Good stuff!
So how to do we do that? First step, listen to your body. It knows what it needs and will send pretty clear signals to you… if you listen. Your body will tell you when it’s hungry or thirsty, when it needs to stretch, or hit the restroom. It’ll feel different if it’s tired or stressed… and when it needs a break.
Too often, we ignore the signals our body sends us, so we can just get ONE MORE THING DONE, which is counterproductive.
You can’t sidestep science. Your body needs opportunities to recharge. AND, an energized body is a productive one.
Take a moment every hour or so, to pause just long enough to assess how you’re feeling and identify what you might need in that instant to reenergize. A short walk, a bite to eat, a conversation with a friend or colleague…energizers. Hydration, meditation, a nap…energizers! A healthy meal and a good night’s sleep at the end of the day…ENERGIZERS!
Your body and mind need consistent top-ups of all the things I just mentioned. And here’s the thing, it can happen in small steps, which makes energy management more … manageable. Just be consistent.
Better energy – mind, body and spirit – will help you...
Reach for bigger goals. Why? Because with better mental and emotional energy comes greater clarity and focus. With that, we’re better able to determine what we truly want, and why it’s important… and our goals get up-sized.
Better energy will help you strengthen your mindset. How? Because when we feel better about ourselves, our self-confidence and self-belief go up, which empowers us to think bigger, and take more powerful action. We face challenges not with a mindset of, “It can’t be done”, but rather with, “How might I crush this?”
AND
Better energy will also help you do excellent work, and not scrape by. Why? Where fatigue and fogginess might cause you to procrastinate or allow distractions in, when you’re energized, you’ll be more likely to dig in and do the hard work, and do it better.

If you put those bigger goals, that stronger mindset, and your excellent work ethic on repeat, you’ll ignite high performance in pretty amazing ways. Just by managing your energy.
