THIS ENDS HERE

They all agreed this ends here.

No more you-are-a-planner-I-am-a-creative.

No more you-are-a-strategist-I-am-a-developer.

No more you-are-an-account-I-am-the-idea-guy.

No more C-titles.

No more B-titles.

No more titles.

They have known each other forever

so what’s up with those masks?

Was it to lie with a smile?

Was it to make all the backstabbing more fun to watch?

In the beginning there they were, wanting to do something spectacular.

Trying to catch a glimpse of the world, a spark.

“Do I dare disturb the universe?”

T.S. Eliot kept showing up in their dreams asking that question.

Until the day they kicked him out of their minds

to make routine the Queen.

So then what happened?

It felt like working on Cannery Row.

The life cycle of producing work for the sake of the money

began to kill one idea at a time.

Money over imagination.

Money over inspiration.

Money above all.

So they ended up here.

With their backs to a fire they once had in them.

Yes.

They all agreed this ends here.

See you in 2017.

Deep. Well written Simone. Especially the part about money.

Well said. And as you point out, our better selves reappear the moment we are willing to surrender our masks. Simple, but not easy.
