ENDOMETRIOSIS : SOME LEARNING FROM OUR BRITISH CONSULTANTS THAT COULD IMPACT EFFICIENCY, BETTER OUTCOMES AND PUBLISHING.

ENDOMETRIOSIS : SOME LEARNING FROM OUR BRITISH CONSULTANTS THAT COULD IMPACT EFFICIENCY, BETTER OUTCOMES AND PUBLISHING.

First in a recent Lister Journal review, the new President of the European Endometriosis League, Professor Mohamed Mabrouk was featured in the discussion on his approach to systematic review of a pelvis in a patient he takes to the OR for endometriosis surgery. This gives the surgeon the best way to grasp the nature and complexity of the surgery and compliments the pre-operative diagnostic work up. Consider a review of how disease is approached:

Second Shaheen Khazali Consultant at the Lister in London uses a software system that pulls together surgical records, operative reports, research potential, preferences putting care of the patient and their endo in to science in terms of the approach.

Bringing consistency to the treatment of endometriosis by both of these options could put the whole world of specialists treating endometriosis on the same page, talking to each other, talking science, improving outcomes, leaving far less to chance. If we are to ever get anywhere in promoting good care around the world, we have to standardize approaches and be able to talk to each other in a scientific way. Processes such as these give us a chance to see things in a common light, to understand better how to relieve suffering effectively

I have no financial interest in either consultant or their approaches but see a way forward that a more targeted approach to endometriosis could begin to benefit patients immensely as well as move discussion of endometriosis into more common ground discussions.
