3D printing turns out to be extremely successful in the medical field. Orthopedics, ophthalmology, dentistry and traumatology are just a few of the fields that benefit from 3D printing for medical purposes.?That's because thanks to this technology it is possible to work more quickly, customize devices for patient therapy and carry out extensive tests.?
And this is also what happened in California, where?a medical team of students at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona have found a way to solve respiratory problems in newborns?using 3D printing. According to the World Health Organization each year 15 million babies are born prematurely. While traditional nasal masks can be traumatic for low-weight premature infants, 3D prototypes designed by students at Western University can perfectly fit the baby's nose.
Once again, 3D printing proves to be useful and can represent a breakthrough for healthcare. 3D printing technology for medical care is still a work in progress, but in the future it may provide more and more benefits in terms of performance and timing.
