End write (4 in 1)

Exactly a year ago on Mother's Day, I did publish my first piece of writting on this platform. You may have observed focus of writting has been dancing around issues on governance, policy, labour, professionalism, humanity, and consumer protection, with bias in IT. There is the need to call out for some regulation or enforcement. Some of these processes are not like instant noodles and may take longer than usual to implement, enforce, or institutionalize. If there is the need to scream out, I will, and would not turn to unprofessionalism, violence, or criminality. Whereas, some of these may later get to the relevant institutions, this platform has been chosen due to its reach to applicable stakeholders. Some of these issues may already be work-in-progress and just to draw your attention.

Though there is a lot of writting to do, I would end this COVID period of writting, and focus on my core areas. Those who ask of comic relief, do not worry, you will always have a reason to laugh. Writting is not targeted at anyone or group in particular and is only addressing concerns through some experiences. You are free to enquire about my point of view through questioning? And am not asking of you to play me psychology, as a line, "when would you learn to stop doing things for people who do not appreciate" in "2 rights" has gotten some heads up. A survey should have been conducted to support the points in “Is the IT staff appreciated?” and “The difficulty in operating as an IT MSP in Ghana” but open to future attempts.

Observed that the things we read/write, movies/videos we watch, music/audio we listen to sometimes are replayed in our real lives. I write not to invite any dark forces to materialize such issues in real life especially when they give sweet roles such as Wiston and Salifu Alhassan in "Reputation built not maintained whiles away" to John, and give me the role of the mafia in "Confessions of a professional killer" or victim in "Suing not an option".

For those I sent a document to, would have some understanding on what I am driving at. And of course, these add to the additional reading. Whiles listening to a sermon in church one day, and for the preacher to utter, "if only you have been bitten by the snake before" you would be more careful than before. Anyone who offered assistance, and those working to make society, employment, and the country better, many thanks to you and the team. Thank YOU!

Carve your future

After spending four years studying IT, I did not get much opportunity to practice in the specialty I wanted. Thanks to a senior fellow who advised me to start a freelance IT support and who also turned to be the first person to offer me freelance jobs. Get into industry and you will find some IT personnel’s without IT educational background. Some of us with educational background and some little experience in IT are rather being shoved off.

As much counsel must be sought, adapt to occupational changes, diversify revenue sources, earn a living, find job security, etc. If care is not taken, the primary focus would be diverted and opportunities in an area where the foundation has been laid may be missed. Moreover, many areas in IT are not amongst those careers on the path to extinction.

Caution should be taken when diverting into areas where much knowledge, specialty, and experience is not developed. The network disturbances I may be running away from in IT, may be better than the disease or crop theft challenges I may encounter venturing into farming. And it is the same competition and protection of position one will face even if lifted unto the stage by a powerful industry player. Most of these people have gone through such challenges to get where they are now. Although I do not buy into suffering, extortion, defrauding, and other negative experiences. There are more positive experiences to strengthen, enlighten, or improve a person.

Thanks to the man who gave hint of an unknown match maker. Truly, much focus is being placed on pairing us for companionship at work. Please match maker, do allow us to build our professional capacities, as people these days do not want to associate with unsuccessful people. Then we can do all the mingling if they choose to mingle with us [out of office].

In life most people would want to help others to their benefit and not what benefits the recipient most. The agriculturalist would mostly support a farmer, the fashion designer would fancy a model or photographer, the media person would get you into videography or content writting, the educationists prefers you teach, xxx would urge you into business, money launderers and contract racketeers will pay any amount to get you into editting and falsifying documents, people in the sex business will make pimping lucrative, and associates of the supernatural being (God) would want you in ministry.

Where xxx may be a job seeker, business person, policy maker, technocrat, revenue generator, an investor, mentor/tutor/relation, etc.

Who owns the credit?

It is very good and a sign of gratitude to acknowledge the works of others from which you received some insights to produce your own works. Had about 80% - 90% of inputs gathered over 16 years in "The BOX", which I later took offline. Thanks to those contributors over the years. There have been arguments about who owns the rights/credit to some works. Whiles some works/research has been documented long before others thought of putting out their own works. Insights into the final piece are gained through personal experiences, as argued by some authors.

For instance, a student who writes on an assignment based mostly on previous work experience is still going to be flagged for plagiarism. Whereas everyday language or street terminology automatically becomes the credit of popular personalities once they are proclaimed publicly. How discussions in a conversation with a friend who was questioning on trivial issues and experiences went public increases the possibility of there being a third ear (not monitoring authority).

A fraction of work has been done already on most things we try to put out there. That should also not encourage forceful crediting, where one by monitoring of research, movement, mind reading, etc. the producer of a work, and directs works of others or his/her own opinions via internet, media, etc. That is when I understood why some producers/inventors move into large compounds in secluded areas or into large apartments at the top of high rising buildings. Credit is given when it duly has to be and not when authors, producers, or inventors are being outsmarted. To be all knowing and deserving of all praise may be symptoms of the Messiah syndrome.

Position of trust?

There has been a lot of amazement at how some people do everything they can to make their counterparts ineligible. There is also surprise at how people are deeply in search of something only known to them. Be it power, respect, recognition, information, treasures (precious minerals), crypto-currency keys, etc.

Working with a very aged man, he once said the “obroni” would not hand the job over to a Ghanaian but rather into the care of someone from one of the countries who are known to be more persevering and resilient. A person from one such country I met also asked, "why does it always have to be a Ghanaian?" On a different and unrelated occasion a Ghanaian said, "because Ghanaians are disciplined". And that does not sound so much like the UN secretary general job and spirituality is out of scope for discussion on this platform. Walls may have ears after all.

I am in much agreement with the man who said, "it has got something to do with power". It definitely might be a position of trust, visibility, and control, and aspirants are deeply in search of traits and qualities that make them contenders of the job. Once they get hold of this they quickly adapt to those behaviours or push their own with such traits/qualities. To increase the likelihood of landing the position, some people have to be knocked off, even if it requires going by unfair means. All of a sudden, someone more timid than I am, has become braver than the Armed Forces, a SHS leaver has become man over every other person, and my fellow hard music lover has all of sudden become a jazz enthusiast.

Also to my observation, some other persons with intelligence on the job are rooting for someone they can manipulate and control easily. Someone whose mental alertness is degraded and therefore cannot easily detect pluses and minuses. They therefore are seriously monitoring (reading) eligible persons and forging scenarios to see ability to detect, decision taken, or reaction. Like the label of one of my favourite shorts reads, "can't stop the crooks". If it is a high risk job or a job of great responsibility then you become the stand out and get hired candidate.
