The End Game - Your End Game

The End Game - Your End Game

What if... what if you’re right... what if it works... what if the need you brag about is met... what if all that giving and asking really works?

I’ve asked this of dozens and dozens of fundraisers and the only answer I’ve heard that’s more than a puzzled look is, ‘I guess I’m out of a job?!’ (Or, ‘That will never happen!’ - and that's another conversation altogether.)

Pretty lame... and probably the real reason people don’t really know what to make of so many nonprofits.

...probably the real reason people don’t really know what to make of so many nonprofits.

We define the problem as too big to solve and end up rearranging problems and call that ‘Doing good for others’ - but is it?

Need a starting point?

The missing message is the end game... even a manageable way into world-changing that builds battles into wars.

A finish line - instead of an ever-expanding black hole sucking up more and more of good people's money.

When I float this challenge, it's met with fear or indignation - and some are absolutely apoplectic. ‘How dare you question my intent?!’ but why should this matter... you're not the mission of your mission statement!

You're not the mission of your mission statement.

Here's a great question to start: Does your mission statement or tag-line spell out your end game? Something real?

It may sound trivial, but even ‘Until every last abandoned kitten finds a loving home!’ gives a low threshold with a tangible emotional (and visual) entry point. One kitten at a time.

The end game message is right there between feeding one hungry mouth and ending global hunger.

You’ll find it hiding behind some metric you obsess about - some story you once told.

It's the message your mission is dying to have... and struggling and dying without.
